Abstract

Systems and methods for mobile enrollment in automated clearing house (ACH) transactions using mobile-captured images of financial documents are provided. Applications running on a mobile device provide for the capture and processing of images of documents needed for enrollment in an ACH transaction, such as a blank check, remittance statement and driver'"'"'s license. Data from the mobile-captured images that is needed for enrolling in ACH transactions is extracted from the processed images, such as a user'"'"'s name, address, bank account number and bank routing number. The user can edit the extracted data, select the type of document that is being captured, authorize the creation of an ACH transaction and select an originator of the ACH transaction. The extracted data and originator information is transmitted to a remote server along with the user'"'"'s authorization so the ACH transaction can be setup between the originator'"'"'s and receiver'"'"'s bank accounts.

Claims

11. A system for mobile enrollment in an automated clearing house (ACH) transaction, comprising:

a mobile device which captures an image of a document, receives an authorization of a receiver for enrollment in the ACH transaction and receives an originator identity of at least one originator of the ACH transaction;

a mobile ACH enrollment server which receives the captured image, authorization and originator identity and extracts ACH enrollment data from the captured image; and

an originator server which receives the authorization, originator identity and ACH enrollment data and enrolls the receiver in an ACH transaction with the originator.

1. A computer-readable medium comprising instructions which, when executed by a computer, perform a process of mobile enrollment in an automated clearing house (ACH) transaction, comprising:

receiving an identity of at least one originator for the automated clearing house (ACH) transaction;

receiving an image of a document captured by a mobile device of a receiver of the ACH transaction;

correcting at least one aspect of the image to create a corrected image;

executing one or more image quality assurance tests on the corrected image to assess the quality of the corrected image; and

extracting ACH enrollment data from the corrected image that is needed to enroll a user in the ACH transaction between the originator and the receiver.

2. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the document is at least one of a check, a remittance coupon and an identification card.

3. The computer-readable medium of claim 2, wherein the ACH enrollment data in the corrected image of the check is at least one of a bank account number and a routing number.

4. The computer-readable medium of claim 2, wherein the ACH enrollment data in the corrected image of the remittance coupon is at least one of a user'"'"'s name and a user'"'"'s address.

5. The computer-readable medium of claim 2, wherein the ACH enrollment data in the corrected image of the identification card is at one of a user'"'"'s name, a user'"'"'s address, a user'"'"'s date of birth, a user'"'"'s sex and a user'"'"'s driver'"'"'s identification card number.

6. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, further comprising receiving an authorization from the user for enrollment in the ACH transaction.

7. The computer-readable medium of claim 6, wherein the authorization is a written authorization.

8. The computer-readable medium of claim 6, wherein the authorization is a digital signature of the user.

9. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, further comprising transmitting the extracted ACH enrollment data and the identity of the originator to a remote server for initiation of the ACH transaction.

10. The computer-readable medium of claim 1, wherein correcting the at least one aspect of the image includes correcting at least one of focus, contrast, skew, distortion and size of the image.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the document is at least one of a check, a remittance coupon and an identification card.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the ACH enrollment data in the corrected image of the check is at least one of a bank account number and a routing number.

14. The system of claim 12, wherein the ACH enrollment data in the corrected image of the remittance coupon is at least one of a user'"'"'s name and a user'"'"'s address.

15. The system of claim 12, wherein the ACH enrollment data in the corrected image of the identification card is at one of a user'"'"'s name, a user'"'"'s address, a user'"'"'s date of birth, a user'"'"'s sex and a user'"'"'s driver'"'"'s identification card number.

16. The system of claim 11, wherein the mobile ACH enrollment server corrects at least one aspect of the captured image.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the mobile ACH enrollment server corrects at least one of focus, contrast, skew, distortion and size of the image.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the mobile ACH enrollment server executes one or more image quality assurance tests on the captured image to assess the quality of the captured image.

19. The system of claim 11, wherein the authorization is a digital signature of the user.
