Abstract

A health and fitness management system is provided that has a health and fitness application operating, e.g., on a smart phone, that can wirelessly communicate with an activity module worn on the user which has an accelerometer. The application accepts food and weight inputs (e.g., from the smart phone) and user activity units (e.g., from the activity unit) and develops a user intrinsic metabolism. The application includes fitness arc and health quotient graphical indicators that guide the user on health and fitness activities.

Claims

1. A fitness management method comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the first period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over the first period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

calculating, via a computing device, a calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user for the first period of time;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the second period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the second period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the second period of time;

calculating, via the computing device, a predicted change in weight for the second period of time based upon the calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

comparing the predicted change in weight for the second period of time to the actual change in weight for the second period of time;

determining, via the computing device, an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over a third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the third period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of the user over the third period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the third period of time;

calculating, via the computing device, a predicted change in weight for the third period of time based upon the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the third period of time;

further updating, via the computing device, the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the third period of time and the actual change in weight for the third period of time.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

displaying, via the computing device, at least one of an accumulation of food intake units and an accumulation of activity units over at least one of the first period of time, the second period of time and the third period of time.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

dividing the first period of time into a selected number of first sub-time periods;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the first sub-time periods during the first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the first sub-time units during the first period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the first sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the sub-time periods during the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the first sub-time periods and a first of the first sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

dividing the second period of time into a selected number of second sub-time periods;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the second sub-time units during the second period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the second sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the second sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the second period of time.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the food intake information is a graphic input.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the food intake units are calories consumed.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the period of time is a day.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the collecting activity information for actual activity is achieved by wireless transmission by a motion sensor.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the activity units are calories burned.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the computing device is selected from the group consisting of smart cell phone, tablet device, PDA, and personal computer.

11. The method of claim 2 further comprising:

dividing the third period of time into a selected number of third sub-time periods;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the third sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time; and

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the third sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the third period of time.

12. The method of claim 4 further comprising:

determining an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

13. The method of claim 5, wherein the graphic input is an iconic food item.

14. The method of claim 10, wherein the personal computer is a notebook computer.

15. The method of claim 11 further comprising:

determining a further updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

16. A fitness management system comprising:

a computing device configured to;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the first period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over the first period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for the first period of time;

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

calculate a calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user for the first period of time;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the second period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the second period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the second period of time;

calculate a predicted change in weight for the second period of time based upon the calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collect weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

compare the predicted change in weight for the second period of time to the actual change in weight for the second period of time;

determine an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

17. The fitness management system of claim 16, further comprising:

the computing device configured to;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the third period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the third period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the third period of time;

calculate a predicted change in weight for the third period of time based upon the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collect weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

determine a further updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the third period of time and the actual change in weight for the third period of time.

18. The fitness management system of claim 16 further comprising:

the computing device configured to;

display at least one of an accumulation of food intake units and an accumulation of activity units over at least one of the first period of time, the second period of time and the third period of time.

19. The system of claim 16 further comprising:

the computing device configured to;

divide the first period of time into a selected number of first sub-time periods;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the first sub-time periods during the first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the first sub-time units during the first period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the first sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the sub-time periods during the first period of time;

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the first sub-time periods and a first of the first sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the first period of time.

divide the second period of time into a selected number of second sub-time periods;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the second sub-time units during the second period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the second sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time;

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the second sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the second period of time.

20. The system of claim 16, wherein the computing device is selected from the group consisting of smart cell phone, tablet device, PDA, and personal computer.

21. The system of claim 16, wherein the food intake information is a graphic input.

22. The system of claim 16, wherein the food intake units are calories consumed.

23. The system of claim 16, wherein the period of time is a day.

24. The system of claim 16, wherein the collecting activity information for actual activity is achieved by wireless transmission by a motion sensor.

25. The system of claim 16, wherein the activity units are calories burned.

26. The system of claim 17 further comprising:

the computing device configured to;

divide the third period of time into a selected number of third sub-time periods;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the third sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time; and

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the third sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the third period of time.

27. The system of claim 16 further comprising:

determining an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

28. The system of claim 17 further comprising:

determining a further updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

29. The system of claim 20, wherein the personal computer is a notebook computer.

30. The system of claim 21, wherein the graphic input is an iconic food item.

52. The system of claim 16 further comprising:

a food intake information and weight information input unit;

an activity information collection and input unit separate from the food intake information and weight information input unit and adapted to move with a portion a body of the user.

53. The system of claim 52 further comprising:

at least one of the food intake information and weight information input unit and the activity information collection and input unit comprising the computing device.

54. The system of claim 52 further comprising the food information and weight information input unit comprising a portable user device having a touch screen display.

55. The system of claim 52 further comprising the activity information input unit comprising an accelerometer for detecting activity repetitions.

56. The system of claim 55 further comprising:

at least one of the food intake information and weight information input unit and the activity input unit the computing device configured to assign weighted values to each activity repetition according to one of the type and intensity of the activity and at least one of the repetitions detected.

57. The system of claim 52 further comprising:

the food intake information input and weight information input unit further comprising;

the computing device configured to display a prediction of fitness performance based at least in part on a current metabolic rate for the user.

58. The system of claim 57 further comprising:

the current metabolic rate being computed by the computing device based on a difference between a predicted change in weight for a selected period of time and an actual measured change in weight for the selected period of time.

59. The system of claim 57 further comprising:

the displayed prediction comprising a graphical fitness prediction chart.

60. The system of claim 58 further comprising:

the displayed prediction comprising a graphical fitness prediction chart.

31. A machine readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computing device cause the computing device to perform a fitness management method comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the first period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over the first period of time and converting the activity information into activity intake units for the user for the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

calculating a calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user for the first period of time;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the second period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the second period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the second period of time;

calculating a predicted change in weight for the second period of time based upon the calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

comparing the predicted change in weight for the second period of time to the actual change in weight for the second period of time;

determining an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

32. The machine readable medium of claim 31, the method further comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the third period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the third period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the third period of time;

calculating a predicted change in weight for the third period of time based upon the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

further updating the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the third period of time and the actual change in weight for the third period of time.

33. The machine readable medium of claim 31, the method further comprising:

displaying at least one of an accumulation of food intake units and an accumulation of activity units over at least one of the first period of time, the second period of time and the third period of time.

34. The machine readable medium of claim 31, the method further comprising:

dividing the first period of time into a selected number of first sub-time periods;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the first sub-time periods during the first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the first sub-time units during the first period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the first sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the sub-time periods during the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the first sub-time periods and a first of the first sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the first period of time.

dividing the second period of time into a selected number of second sub-time periods;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the second sub-time units during the second period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the second sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the second sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the second period of time.

35. The machine readable medium of claim 31, wherein the machine readable medium is selected from the group consisting of volatile memory, non-volatile memory, and cache.

36. The machine readable medium of claim 31, wherein the computing device is selected from the group consisting of smart cell phone, tablet device, PDA, and personal computer.

37. The machine readable medium of claim 31, wherein the food intake information is a graphic input.

38. The machine readable medium of claim 31, wherein the food intake units are calories consumed.

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the third sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time; and

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the third sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the third period of time.

43. The machine readable medium of claim 34, the method further comprising:

determining an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

44. The machine readable medium of claim 35, wherein the volatile memory is random access memory (RAM).

45. The machine readable medium of claim 35, wherein the non-volatile memory is selected from the group consisting of read only memory (ROM), flash memory, detachable memory stick, hard drive, and optical drive.

46. The machine readable medium of claim 36, wherein the personal computer is a notebook computer.

47. The machine readable medium of claim 37, wherein the graphic input is an iconic food item.

48. The machine readable medium of claim 42, the method further comprising:

determining a further updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

49. The machine readable medium of claim 44, wherein the random access memory (RAM) is dynamic RAM (DRAM).

50. The machine readable medium of claim 45, wherein the hard drive is a magnetic hard drive.

51. The machine readable medium of claim 45, wherein the optical drive is a digital versatile disk read only memory (DVD-ROM) drive.

61. A fitness management method comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a first period of time, including at least a part or parts of a first week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the first period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over the first period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

calculating, via a computing device, a calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user for the first period of time;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over a second period of time, including at least a part or parts of a second subsequent week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the second period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the second period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the second period of time;

calculating, via the computing device, a predicted change in weight for the second period of time based upon the calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

comparing the predicted change in weight for the second period of time to the actual change in weight for the second period of time;

determining, via the computing device, an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

62. The method of claim 61, further comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over a third period of time, including at least a part or parts of a third subsequent week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the third period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the third period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the third period of time;

calculating, via the computing device, a predicted change in weight for the third period of time based upon the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the third period of time;

further updating, via the computing device, the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the third period of time and the actual change in weight for the third period of time.

63. The method of claim 61 further comprising:

displaying, via the computing device, at least one of an accumulation of food intake units and an accumulation of activity units over at least one of the first period of time, the second period of time and the third period of time.

64. The method of claim 61 further comprising:

dividing the first period of time into a selected number of first sub-time periods, including at least a part of at least one day within the at least a part or parts of the first week;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the first sub-time periods during the first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the first sub-time units during the first period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the first sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the sub-time periods during the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the first sub-time periods and a first of the first sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

dividing the second period of time into a selected number of second sub-time periods, including at least a part of at least one day within the at least a part or parts of the second week;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the second sub-time units during the second period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the second sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the second sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the second period of time.

65. The method of claim 61, wherein the food intake information is a graphic input.

66. The method of claim 61, wherein the food intake units are calories consumed.

67. The method of claim 61, wherein the period of time is a day.

68. The method of claim 61, wherein the collecting activity information for actual activity is achieved by wireless transmission by a motion sensor.

69. The method of claim 61, wherein the activity units are calories burned.

70. The method of claim 61, wherein the computing device is selected from the group consisting of smart cell phone, tablet device, PDA, and personal computer.

71. The method of claim 62 further comprising:

dividing the third period of time into a selected number of third sub-time periods, including at least a part of at least one day within the at least a part or parts of the third week;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the third sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time; and

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the third sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the third period of time.

72. The method of claim 64 further comprising:

determining an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

73. The method of claim 65, wherein the graphic input is an iconic food item.

74. The method of claim 70, wherein the personal computer is a notebook computer.

75. The method of claim 71 further comprising:

determining a further updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the third period of time and the actual change in weight for the third period of time.

76. A fitness management system comprising:

a computing device configured to;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a first period of time, including at least a part or parts of a first week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the first period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over the first period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for the first period of time;

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

calculate a calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user for the first period of time;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a second period of time, including at least a part or parts of a second subsequent week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the second period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the second period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the second period of time;

calculate a predicted change in weight for the second period of time based upon the calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collect weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

compare the predicted change in weight for the second period of time to the actual change in weight for the second period of time;

determine an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

77. The fitness management system of claim 76, further comprising:

the computing device configured to;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a third period of time, including at least a part or parts of a third subsequent week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the third period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity of the user over the third period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the third period of time;

calculate a predicted change in weight for the third period of time based upon the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user;

collect weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the third period of time;

determine a further updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the third period of time and the actual change in weight for the third period of time.

78. The fitness management system of claim 76 further comprising:

the computing device configured to;

display at least one of an accumulation of food intake units and an accumulation of activity units over at least one of the first period of time, the second period of time and the third period of time.

79. The system of claim 76 further comprising:

the computing device configured to;

divide the first period of time into a selected number of first sub-time periods, including at least a part of at least one day within the at least a part or parts of the first week;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the first sub-time periods during the first period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the first sub-time units during the first period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the first sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the sub-time periods during the first period of time;

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the first sub-time periods and a first of the first sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the first period of time.

divide the second period of time into a selected number of second sub-time periods, including at least a part of at least one day within the at least a part or parts of the second subsequent week;

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the second sub-time units during the second period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the second sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the second sub-time periods during the second period of time;

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the second sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the second period of time.

80. The system of claim 76, wherein the computing device is selected from the group consisting of smart cell phone, tablet device, PDA, and personal computer.

collect food intake information for actual or expected food intake of the user over each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time and converting the food intake information into food intake units for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time;

collect activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over each of the third sub-time periods and converting the activity information into activity units for the user for each of the third sub-time periods during the third period of time; and

collect weight information representing a change in weight of the user over at least a last of the third sub-time periods to determine a change in weight of the user over the third period of time.

87. The system of claim 79 further comprising:

determining an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

91. A machine readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by a computing device cause the computing device to perform a fitness management method comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a first period of time, including at least a part or parts of a first week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the first period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity by the user over the first period of time and converting the activity information into activity intake units for the user for the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing a change in weight of the user over the first period of time;

calculating a calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user for the first period of time;

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a second period of time, including at least a part or parts of a second subsequent week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the second period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the second period of time and converting the activity information into activity units for the second period of time;

calculating a predicted change in weight for the second period of time based upon the calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

comparing the predicted change in weight for the second period of time to the actual change in weight for the second period of time;

determining an updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the second period of time and the actual change in weight for the second period of time.

92. The machine readable medium of claim 91, the method further comprising:

collecting food intake information for actual or expected food intake of a user over a third period of time, including at least a part or parts of a first week, and converting the food intake information into food intake units for the third period of time;

collecting activity information for actual or expected activity of a user over the third period of time, and converting the activity information into activity units for the third period of time;

calculating a predicted change in weight for the third period of time based upon the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user over the first period of time;

collecting weight information representing an actual change in weight of the user over the second period of time;

further updating the updated calculated intrinsic metabolic rate for the user based at least in part upon the difference between the predicted change in weight for the third period of time and the actual change in weight for the third period of time.

93. The machine readable medium of claim 92, the method further comprising:

displaying at least one of an accumulation of food intake units and an accumulation of activity units over at least one of the first period of time, the second period of time and the third period of time.
