Abstract

Systems and methods are method of for remote monitoring of an area with a remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) encased in a rubber ball (302). A remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) is provided which receives a spoken description of a location of the remote sensing device and stores the spoken description as predetermined location information. The description can be received directly prior to deployment or wirelessly transmitted from another device (400). The remote sensing device can sense information related to its environment via a motion sensor (314), such as whether an intruder is located within a vicinity of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300). The remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) can then transmit the predetermined location information and the environment information to the another device (400) in response to the sensing. In response to receipt, the other device (400) can render the predetermined location information and the environment information in an audible format.

Claims

1. A device (100, 200, 300) comprising:

a housing (302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312) encasing components, including;

an input component (104, 204) configured to receive predetermined location information;

a data store (106, 210) configured to store the predetermined location information;

a sensor component (108, 212) comprising at least one sensor (314) and configured to receive environment information related to an environment of the device (100, 200, 300); and

a communication component (110, 218) configured to wirelessly transmit the predetermined location information and the environment information.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the housing (302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312) comprises a rubber ball (302).

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the input component (104, 204) is configured to receive the predetermined location information as voice data wherein the data store (106, 210) is configured to store the predetermined location information in a format for speech playback.

4. The device of claim 1, the housing further encasing:

an activation component (206) configured to active or deactivate the sensor component in response to receipt of an activation command or a deactivation command, respectively, from a remote device.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein the communication component (110, 218) is configured to, in real-time, wirelessly transmit the predetermined location information and the environment information in response to receipt of the environment information by the sensor component (108, 212).

The device of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor (314) includes at least one of a three-dimensional compass, a gyro, or an accelerometer and wherein the environment information further includes collected location information, wherein collected location information includes information regarding a current location device based on an output of at least one of the three dimensional compass, the gyro, or the accelerometer.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor (314) includes an acoustic sensor and the environment information is associated with at least one object sensed by the acoustic sensor.

8. The device of claim 7, wherein the communication component (110, 218) is further configured to transmit audible noise received by the acoustic sensor in real-time.

9. The device of claim 7, wherein the acoustic sensor comprises one or more microphones positioned in disparate locations within the housing (302, 304, 306, 308, 310, 312).

10. The device of claim 7, wherein the at least one sensor (314) includes a three-dimensional compass, and wherein the environment information further includes positional information of the at least one object with respect to the device.

11. The device of claim 10, the housing further encasing:

an analysis component (214) configured to determine context information based on the environment information, the context information including at least one of;

a type of the at least one object, a number of the at least one object, a direction of movement of the at least one object, or a location of the at least one object; and

wherein the communication component (110, 218) is further configured to wirelessly transmit the context information.

12. The device of claim 11, the housing further encasing:

an intelligence component (220) configured to make an inference regarding the context information based on a comparison between previously received environment information, previously determined context information, and the environment information.

13. A device (400) comprising:

a processor (402) configured to facilitate execution of computer executable components stored in memory (412), comprising;

a programming component (404) configured to program a remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) with predetermined location information; and

a monitoring component (410) configured to receive the predetermined location information and environment information of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

14. The device of claim 13, wherein the programming component (404) is configured to input the predetermined location information in an audio format and wherein the monitoring component (410) is further configured to receive the predetermined location information in the audio format.

15. The device of claim 13, further comprising:

a control component (408) configured to active or deactivate the remote computing device (100, 200, 300) via a command line script.

16. The device of claim 13, wherein the monitoring component (410) is further configured to receive the predetermined location information and the environment information from the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) in real-time in response to receipt of the environment information by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

17. The device of claim 13, wherein the monitoring component (410) is further configured to receive, in real-time, audible sound received at the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

18. The device of claim 13, wherein the environment information includes information regarding at least one object sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

19. The device of claim 18, further comprising:

an analysis component (406) configured to determine context information based on the environment information, the context information including at least one of;

a type of the at least one object, a number of the at least one object, a direction of movement of the at least one object, or a location of the at least one object.

20. The device of claim 19, further comprising:

an intelligence component (414) configured to infer the context information based on a comparison between previously received environment information, previously determined context information, and the environment information.

21. The device of claim 13, wherein the monitoring component (410) is further configured to receive context information associated with the remote sensing device, the context information including at least one of:

a type of object sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), a number of objects sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), a direction of movement of an object sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), or a location of an object sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

22. The device of claim 13, wherein the environment information includes collected location information, wherein collected location information comprises information regarding a current location of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) determined by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) from at least one of a three dimensional compass, a gyro, or an accelerometer.

The device of claim 13, where the monitoring component (410) is further configured to request information regarding the status of the remote sensing device and in response to the request, receive the status information, wherein status information includes at least one of a location of the remote sensing device, a current environment of the remote sensing device, or a power level of the remote sensing device.

The device of claim 23, further comprising a control component (408) configured to deactivate the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) via a command line script in response to a difference between the predetermined location information and the collected location information meeting a condition of a function of a predetermined difference.

25. A method comprising:

receiving (710) programmatic input including predetermined location information by a remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).;

storing (720) the predetermined location information;

sensing (730) environment information related to an environment of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).; and

wirelessly transmitting (740) the predetermined location information and the environment information.

26. The method of claim 25, wherein the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) is housed by a rubber ball (302).

27. The method of claim 25, wherein the receiving (710) comprises receiving a speech representation of the predetermined location information, and wherein the storing the predetermined location information comprises storing the predetermined location information in an audio format for speech playback of the predetermined location information.

28. The method of claim 25, further comprising activating or deactivating the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) in response to receiving an activation or deactivation command, respectively, from a remote control device (400).

29. The method of claim 25, wherein the transmitting (740) comprises transmitting, in real-time, the predetermined location information and the environment information in response to the sensing.

30. The method of claim 25, wherein the sensing (730) includes sensing sound by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) and the transmitting (740) includes transmitting the sound in real-time.

31. The method of claim 25, wherein the sensing (730) the environment information includes sensing at least one of an object within a sensing range of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), or a current location of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

32. The method of claim 31, further comprising:

determining context information of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) including determining at least one of;

a type of the object, a number of objects sensed, a direction of movement of the object, or a location of the object; and

transmitting the context information.

33. A method comprising:

programming (810) a remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) encased in a rubber ball (302) with predetermined location information including transmitting the predetermined location information to the remote sensing device; and

receiving (820) the predetermined location information and environment information of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) in real-time in response to the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) receiving the environment information.

34. The method of claim 33, wherein the programming (810) includes transmitting audible predetermined location information to the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) according to an audio format and wherein the receiving includes receiving the predetermined location information in the audio format.

35. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

activating or deactivating the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) via a command line script.

36. The method of claim 33, further comprising:

receiving, in real-time, sound sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

37. The method of claim 33, wherein the receiving the environment information includes receiving information regarding at least one object sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

38. The method of claim 37, further comprising:

determining context information of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) including determining at least one of;

a type of the at least one object, a number of the at least one object, a direction of movement of the at least one object, or a location of the at least one object.

39. The method of claim 33, further comprising receiving context information associated with the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), the context information including at least one of:

a type of object sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), a number of objects sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), a direction of movement of an object sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), or a location of an sensed by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

40. A remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) comprising:

means for receiving (104, 204) predetermined location information at the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), wherein the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) is encased in a rubber ball (302);

means for storing (106, 210) the predetermined location information;

means for sensing (108, 212) environment information related to an environment of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300); and

means for transmitting (110, 218) the predetermined location information and the environment information.

41. The device of claim 40, wherein the means for receiving (104, 204) the predetermined location information comprises means for receiving (104, 204) a spoken description of the predetermined location information, and wherein the means for storing (106, 210) the predetermined location information comprises means for storing (106, 210) the predetermined location information in an audio format.

42. The device of claim 40, further comprising means for activating or deactivating (206) the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) in response to an activation or deactivation command, respectively.

43. The device of claim 40, wherein the means for sensing (108, 212) comprises means for sensing (108, 212) sound by the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) and the means for transmitting (110, 218) includes means for transmitting (110, 218) the sound in real-time.

44. The device of claim 40, wherein the means for sensing (108, 212) the environment information includes means for sensing (108, 212) at least one of an object within a sensing range of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300), or a current location of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300).

45. The device of claim 44, further comprising:

means for determining (220) context information of the remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) including means for determining (220) at least one of;

a type of the object, a number of objects sensed, a direction of movement of the object, or a location of the object, and wherein the means for transmitting (110, 218) includes means for transmitting (110, 218) the context information.

46. A computer readable storage medium comprising computer executable instructions that, in response to execution, cause a remote sensing device (100, 200, 300) encased in a rubber ball (302) to perform operations comprising:

receiving (710) predetermined location information by the remote sensing device encased in the rubber ball (302);

sensing (730) environment information meeting a predetermined criterion related to an environment of the remote sensing device; and

in response to the sensing the environment information that meets the predetermined criterion, transmitting (740) the predetermined location information and the environment information.
