Abstract

A user equipment (UE) for reporting information is described. The UE includes a processor and instructions stored in memory that is in electronic communication with the processor. The UE selects a reference cell having a reference uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration. The UE also selects a first uplink subframe from the reference cell. The UE further selects a first subframe set from a first cell having a first UL-DL configuration. The first UL-DL configuration is different than the reference UL-DL configuration. The UE additionally determines a first set of associations between the first subframe set and the first uplink subframe. The UE further aggregates information corresponding to the reference cell and information corresponding to the first cell based on the first set of associations to produce aggregated information. The UE also reports the aggregated information on an uplink reporting cell.

Claims

1. A user equipment (UE) for reporting information, comprising:

a processor;

memory in electronic communication with the processor;

instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable to;

select a reference cell having a reference uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration;

select a first uplink subframe from the reference cell;

select a first subframe set from a first cell having a first UL-DL configuration;

determine a first set of associations between the first subframe set and the first uplink subframe;

aggregate information corresponding to the reference cell and information corresponding to the first cell based on the first set of associations to produce aggregated information; and

report the aggregated information on an uplink reporting cell.

2. The UE of claim 1, wherein the aggregated information comprises acknowledgment/negative acknowledgment (ACK/NACK) information.

3. The UE of claim 1, wherein the first subframe set defines an association region based on the reference cell, and wherein the association region is the same for all UL-DL configurations.

4. The UE of claim 1, wherein the instructions are further executable to determine at least one additional set of associations between at least one additional subframe set from the first cell and at least one additional uplink subframe from the reference cell.

5. The UE of claim 4, wherein the first set of associations and the at least one additional set of associations are balanced between the first uplink subframe and the at least one additional uplink subframe.

6. The UE of claim 4, wherein determining the first set of associations and determining the at least one additional set of associations comprises at least one of minimizing the distance of each association and minimizing the total distance for all of the associations.

7. The UE of claim 1, wherein selecting the reference cell comprises:

determining at least one cell with a smallest periodicity, and if it is determined that one cell is a cell with a smallest periodicity, then the reference cell is the cell with the smallest periodicity;

determining if more than one cell is a cell with a smallest periodicity, and if it is determined that more than one cell has the smallest periodicity, then at least one cell with a highest uplink allocation is determined, and if it is determined that one cell is a cell with the highest uplink allocation, then the reference cell is the cell with the highest uplink allocation; and

determining if more than one cell is a cell with a highest uplink allocation, and if it is determined that more than one cell has the highest uplink allocation, then a cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID) is determined and the reference cell is the cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID).

8. The UE of claim 1, wherein the uplink reporting cell is a cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID) for a particular uplink subframe.

9. The UE of claim 1, wherein the reference UL-DL configuration is a superset UL-DL configuration that combines one or more uplink subframes from a PCell and one or more SCells using different UL-DL configurations.

10. The UE of claim 1, wherein the first cell is in a first band and the reference cell is in a second band, and wherein the first band and the second band are different bands.

11. The UE of claim 1, wherein the reference UL-DL configuration and the first UL-DL configuration are one of the same UL-DL configuration and different UL-DL configurations.

12. A method for reporting information by a user equipment (UE), comprising:

selecting a reference cell having a reference uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration;

selecting a first uplink subframe from the reference cell;

selecting a first subframe set from a first cell having a first UL-DL configuration;

determining a first set of associations between the first subframe set and the first uplink subframe;

aggregating information corresponding to the reference cell and information corresponding to the first cell based on the first set of associations to produce aggregated information; and

reporting the aggregated information on an uplink reporting cell.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the aggregated information comprises acknowledgment/negative acknowledgment (ACK/NACK) information.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the first subframe set defines an association region based on the reference cell, and wherein the association region is the same for all UL-DL configurations.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the instructions are further executable to determine at least one additional set of associations between at least one additional subframe set from the first cell and at least one additional uplink subframe from the reference cell.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the first set of associations and the at least one additional set of associations are balanced between the first uplink subframe and the at least one additional uplink subframe.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein determining the first set of associations and determining the at least one additional set of associations comprises at least one of minimizing the distance of each association and minimizing the total distance for all of the associations.

18. The method of claim 12, wherein selecting the reference cell comprises:

determining at least one cell with a smallest periodicity, and if it is determined that one cell is a cell with a smallest periodicity, then the reference cell is the cell with the smallest periodicity;

determining if more than one cell is a cell with a smallest periodicity, and if it is determined that more than one cell has the smallest periodicity, then at least one cell with a highest uplink allocation is determined, and if it is determined that one cell is a cell with the highest uplink allocation, then the reference cell is the cell with the highest uplink allocation; and

determining if more than one cell is a cell with a highest uplink allocation, and if it is determined that more than one cell has the highest uplink allocation, then a cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID) is determined and the reference cell is the cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID).

19. The method of claim 12, wherein the uplink reporting cell is a cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID) for a particular uplink subframe.

20. The method of claim 12, wherein the reference UL-DL configuration is a superset UL-DL configuration that combines one or more uplink subframes from a PCell and one or more SCells using different UL-DL configurations.

21. The method of claim 12, wherein the first cell is in a first band and the reference cell is in a second band, and wherein the first band and the second band are different bands.

22. The method of claim 12, wherein the reference UL-DL configuration and the first UL-DL configuration are one of the same UL-DL configuration and different UL-DL configurations.

23. An evolved Node B (eNB) for receiving information, comprising:

a processor;

memory in electronic communication with the processor;

instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable to;

determine if aggregated information is being used in connection with a first cell having a first uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration and a second cell having a second UL-DL configuration, wherein the first UL-DL configuration is different than the second UL-DL configuration;

receive aggregated information on an uplink reporting cell; and

de-aggregate the aggregated information based on a set of associations.

24. The eNB of claim 23, wherein the uplink reporting cell is one of the first cell and the second cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID) for each particular uplink subframe.

25. A method for receiving information by an evolved Node B (eNB), comprising:

determining if aggregated information is being used in connection with a first cell having a first uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration and a second cell having a second UL-DL configuration;

receiving aggregated information on an uplink reporting cell; and

de-aggregating the aggregated information based on a set of associations.

26. The method of claim 25, wherein the uplink reporting cell is one of the first cell and the second cell with the lowest cell index (Cell_ID) for each particular uplink subframe.
