Abstract

The disclosed technology relates to determining characteristics associated with an audience'"'"'s interactions during an event. The characteristics can be leveraged to harness the natural emotion and interactivity associated with the audiences for use in engaging the audience in commerce and/or improving the audience'"'"'s overall experience.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method, comprising:

collecting audience data from a plurality of remote data sources;

determining an engagement level based on one or more characteristics associated with the audience data;

generating content based on the engagement level; and

sending at least a portion of the content to one or more of the plurality of data sources.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more characteristics associated with the audience data is a real-time indication of one or more audience member'"'"'s preference for, or participation in, a presently occurring event.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the one or more characteristics associated with the audience data is a real-time indication of one or more audience member'"'"'s preference for, or participation in, a previously occurred event.

4. The method of claim 2 wherein the event is a venue-centric event.

5. The method of claim 2 wherein the event is a slide-based presentation.

6. The method of claim 2 wherein the event is a politically rally.

7. The method of claim 2 wherein the event is a sporting event.

8. The method of claim 2 wherein the event is a concert.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the engagement level is based on an audience'"'"' emotion.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein the engagement level is based on a response.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein the engagement level is based on an opinion.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein at least one of the plurality of sources is a handheld device.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein at least one of the plurality of sources is a mobile phone.

14. The method of claim 1 wherein at least one of the plurality of data sources is a tablet.

15. The method of claim 1 wherein the content has one or more requests for displaying at one or more of the plurality of data sources, wherein the one or more requests is for an answer to a question or a request for audience feedback.

16. The method of claim 1 wherein the content has one or more advertisements for display at one or more of the plurality of data sources.

17. The method of claim 1 further comprising tracking attendance at an event based on at least a portion of the collected audience data.

18. The method of claim 1 further comprising receiving data indicating an acceptance of a product or service offered in the content, or indicating an acceptance of an opt-in question in the content.

19. The method of claim 1, further comprising, comparing the engagement level to a threshold value, wherein the sending of the content is triggered by the engagement level reaching the threshold value.

20. A computer system comprising:

an event management component to determine audience engagement during an event and to send one of a plurality of types of content, wherein the content based on the audience engagement; and

an administrative component to determine, based on the audience engagement, the type of content to send.

21. The system of claim 20 wherein the event management component is configured to receive audience data, and wherein the audience engagement is based on the audience data.

22. The system of claim 20 wherein the type of content is an offer for a product and or service. or a slide presentation.

23. The system of claim 20 wherein the type of content is a slide presentation.

24. The system of claim 20 wherein the audience engagement is based on an emotional intensity of at least a portion of an audience at the event.

25. At least one tangible, computer-readable medium that, when executed by at least one data processing device, determines audience engagement, the computer-readable medium causing a computer to perform a method comprising:

identifying one or more naturally occurring human characteristics in data from one or more plurality of sources;

identifying an engagement value based on at least a portion of the human characteristics;

identifying content to associate with the engagement value; and

sending the content to the one or more plurality of sources.

26. The computer-readable of claim 25 wherein the one or more naturally occurring human characteristics are based on an emotion of at least one audience member at an event, and wherein the data is received from a computing device configured to be operated by an audience member viewing the event.

27. A computer implemented method for determining an offer based on a level of engagement of at least one member of an audience viewing an event, the method comprising:

receiving one or more offers, wherein content of the one or more offers is based on an engagement level determined from at least information associated with an audience member'"'"'s perception of the event;

displaying the one more offers;

sending an indication of a selected offer for delivery to a remote computing device;

in response to sending the indication of the selected offer, receiving, via the remote computing device, data relating to the selected offer; and

displaying the data.

The method of claim 27 wherein the engagement level is at least one audience member'"'"'s natural emotion, opinion, answer to a question, amount of energy, or expression of the event, wherein the offer is for a product or service, wherein the indication is an acceptance of the selected offer, and wherein the data includes information regarding the acceptance of the selected offer.

29. The method of claim 28 wherein the engagement level is based on a plurality of audience members'"'"' perceptions of the event.

30. The method of claim 27 wherein the engagement level is at least one audience member'"'"'s natural emotion, opinion, answer to a question, amount of energy or expression of the event, wherein the event is a presentation, wherein the offer is a solicitation for answer to a question, poll, survey or request relating to the presentation, and wherein the data relating to the selected offer includes feedback information.

31. A server, comprising:

a means for collecting audience data from at least one source associated with a real-time presentation;

a means for determining an engagement level of at least one audience member viewing the real-time presentation, wherein the engagement level is based at least on one or more characteristics associated with the audience data;

a means for generating content based on the engagement level; and

a means for sending the content to the at least one source.

The server of claim 31, wherein the one or more characteristics associated with the audience data is a real-time indication of the at least one audience member'"'"'s preference for the real-time presentation, and wherein the preference is associated with an audience member'"'"'s natural emotion, opinion, answer to a question, amount of energy, or expression of the presentation.

33. A client, comprising:

a means for sending audience data associated with a presentation;

a means for receiving content based on an engagement level of at least one audience member viewing the presentation, wherein the engagement level is based at least on one or more characteristics associated with the audience data; and

a means for displaying the content.

The client of claim 33, wherein the one or more characteristics associated with the audience data is a real-time indication of the at least one audience member'"'"'s preference for the presentation, and wherein the preference is associated with an audience member'"'"'s natural emotion, opinion, answer to a question, amount of energy, or expression of the presentation.
