Abstract

A control system for a medical remote catheter guidance system includes an ECU, a computer-readable memory coupled to the ECU, and user interface (UI) logic stored in the memory configured to be executed by the ECU. The user interface logic receives input from a touch screen display with respect to a view of an anatomical model, associates a user type with the input, and interprets the input according to the associated user type and input. The user interface logic may be further configured to receive simultaneous inputs from at least two different users and to associate different user types with each of said simultaneous inputs. The user interface logic may associate each input with a user type according to a location of the input on the touch screen display.

Claims

1. A control system for user-guided robotic manipulation of a medical device comprising:

an electronic control unit (ECU);

a computer-readable memory coupled to said ECU;

user interface (UI) logic stored in said memory configured to be executed by said ECU, said user interface logic configured to;

receive input from a touch screen display with respect to a view of an anatomical model; and

interpret said input; and

control logic stored in said memory configured to be executed by said ECU, said control logic configured to produce a control signal based at least in part on the interpretation of said UI logic and said input to control the medical device.

2. The control system of claim 1, wherein said UI logic is further configured to associate a user type with said input and to interpret said input according to said associated user type.

3. The control system of claim 2, wherein said UI logic associates said input with a user type according to a location of said input on said touch screen display.

4. The control system of claim 2, wherein said UI logic is configured to receive simultaneous inputs from at least two different users and to associate user types with each of said simultaneous inputs.

5. The control system of claim 1, wherein said UI logic is configured to receive simultaneous inputs from at least two different users.

6. The control system of claim 1, wherein said UI logic is configured to receive inputs from at least two different points on said touch screen display.

7. The control system of claim 6, wherein said UI logic is configured to receive said inputs from at least two different points simultaneously.

8. The control system of claim 1, wherein said control logic is further configured to produce said control signal to control actuation of a manipulator assembly.

9. The control system of claim 1, further comprising display logic configured to provide a view of said anatomical model based at least in part on the determination of said UI logic and said input.

10. The control system of claim 1, wherein said UI logic receives said input as one or more gestures.

11. The control system of claim 1, wherein said UI logic receives said input as raw touch input data.

12. The control system of claim 11, wherein said raw touch input data includes a location of said input and a pressure of said input.

13. The control system of claim 11, wherein said raw touch input data includes a location of said input and a speed of said input.

14. The control system of claim 1, wherein said UI logic is further configured to provide haptic feedback through said touch screen display.

15. A control system for user-guided robotic manipulation of a medical device comprising:

an electronic control unit (ECU);

a computer-readable memory coupled to said ECU;

a set of user types stored in said memory;

user interface (UI) logic stored in said memory configured to be executed by said ECU, said user interface logic configured to;

arrange a view of an anatomical model and a representation of said medical device in a graphical interface on a touch screen display;

receive multiple touch-based inputs from said display with respect to said view of said anatomical model and said representation of said medical device;

associate a user type from said set of user types with each of said multiple touch-based inputs; and

determine whether said medical device should be moved and whether said view of said anatomical model should be updated according to each of said associated touch based inputs and user types.

16. The control system of claim 15, wherein said UI logic associates a portion of said interface with one user type in said set of user types such that an input located in said interface portion is associated with said one user type.

The control system of claim 15, wherein said interface portion is a first interface portion, said view of an anatomical model is a first view of said anatomical model, said representation of said medical device and said first view of said anatomical model are arranged in said first interface portion, and a second view of said anatomical model is arranged in a second interface portion, said second view of said anatomical model being at a different angle from said first view of said anatomical model.

18. The control system of claim 15, wherein each user type in said set of user types is associated with one or more permissions.

19. The control system of claim 18, wherein said one or more permissions are selected from the group consisting of:

permission to direct movement of said medical device; and

permission to manipulate said view of said anatomical model.

20. The control system of claim 18, wherein said UI logic is further configured to determine whether said medical device should be moved and whether said view of said anatomical model should be updated according to the permissions associated with said user type associated with said input.

21. The control system of claim 15, wherein said user interface logic is further configured to provide haptic feedback through said touch screen display.

22. A control system for user-guided robotic manipulation of a medical device comprising:

an electronic control unit (ECU);

a computer-readable memory coupled to said ECU;

user interface (UI) logic stored in said memory configured to be executed by said ECU, said logic configured to;

provide a user login interface on a touch screen display;

obtain login information from a user via said user login interface;

verify said login information;

define an input area for said user; and

receive touch-based input from said input area; and

produce an actuation control signal based at least in part on said touch-based input from said input area to control actuation of a manipulator assembly so as to move the medical device.

23. The control system of claim 22, wherein said UI logic is further configured to dissociate said area of said touch screen with said particular user type according to a dissociation event.

24. The control system of claim 23, wherein said dissociation event is selected from the group consisting of:

a logout input from said user;

the passage of a pre-determined amount of time without an input in said area; and

the passage of a pre-determined amount of time after said user interface logic associates said area with said user type.
