Abstract

A map of a facility is provided. Dispatch instructions for dispatching a mobile device from a starting location to the facility at a destination within a geographical area are received, and a current location of the mobile device is detected as the mobile device moves from the starting location towards the destination. The map of the facility is received based on the dispatch instructions and the current location of the mobile device, and the map of the facility is provided.

Claims

1. A method for providing a map of a facility, comprising:

receiving, by a communication device, dispatch instructions for dispatching a mobile device from a starting location to the facility at a destination within a geographical area;

detecting, by the communication device, a current location of the mobile device as the mobile device moves from the starting location towards the destination;

receiving, by the communication device, the map of the facility based on the dispatch instructions and the current location of the mobile device, wherein the map includes a notification of a potentially hazardous area of the facility; and

providing, by the communication device, the map of the facility.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the map of the facility includes details pertinent to the dispatch instructions.

The method of claim 1, further comprising detecting entry of the mobile device within a proximity of the destination, requesting the map of the facility upon detection of entry of the mobile device within the proximity of the destination and receiving updates to the map of the facility while the mobile device is within the proximity of the destination, wherein the updates are pushed from a server to the communication device.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

selecting a map of the geographical area indicated by the dispatch instructions; and

providing directions for navigating the mobile device from the starting location to the destination within the geographical area based on the selected map, wherein the directions for navigating the mobile device are provided audibly.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

tracking at least one of inventory and location of a mobile asset, wherein the mobile asset is the mobile device or is transportable by the mobile device.

21. The method of claim 3, wherein the updates include updates of the notification of the potentially hazardous area.

22. The method of claim 2, wherein the map includes a highlighted indication of a damaged area of the facility.

23. The method of claim 3, wherein the updates are pushed to the communication device at regular intervals.

24. The method of claim 3, wherein the updates are pushed to the communication device as updates are made to the facility map.

7. A device for providing a map of facility, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory having stored thereon computer-readable instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising;

receiving dispatch instructions for dispatching a mobile device from a starting location to the facility at a destination within a geographical area;

detecting a current location of the mobile device as the mobile device moves from the starting location towards the destination;

receiving the map of the facility based on the dispatch instructions and the current location of the mobile device, wherein the map includes a notification of a potentially hazardous area of the facility; and

providing the map of the facility.

8. The device of claim 7, wherein the map of the facility includes details pertinent to the dispatch instructions.

9. The device of claim 7, further comprising an interface to a mobile communication device, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to provide the map of the facility to the mobile communication device via the interface.

The device of claim 7, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to detect entry of the mobile device within a proximity of the destination, request the map of the facility upon detection of entry of the mobile device within the proximity of the destination and receive updates to the map of the facility while the mobile device is within the proximity of the destination, wherein the updates are pushed from a server to the communication device.

The device of claim 7, wherein the memory further stores maps of geographical areas, and the instructions, when executed by the processor further cause the processor to select a map of the geographical area indicated by the dispatch instructions from among the maps of geographical areas stored in the memory and provide directions for navigating the mobile device from the starting location to the destination within the geographical area based on the selected map, wherein the directions for navigating are provided audibly.

14. The device of claim 7, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor further cause the processor to track at least one of inventory and location of a mobile asset, wherein the mobile asset is the mobile device or is transportable by the mobile device.

15. A non-transitory computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having recorded thereon instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving dispatch instructions for dispatching a mobile device from a starting location to the facility at a destination within a geographical area; and

detecting a current location of the mobile device as the mobile device moves from the starting location towards the destination;

receiving the map of the facility based on the dispatch instructions and the current location of the mobile device, wherein the map includes a notification of a potentially hazardous area of the facility; and

providing the map of the facility.

16. The non-transitory computer program product of claim 15, wherein the map of the facility includes details pertinent to the dispatch instructions.

17. The non-transitory computer program product of claim 15, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to perform:

detecting entry of the mobile device within a proximity of the destination;

requesting the map of the facility upon detection of entry of the mobile device within the proximity of the destination; and

receiving updates to the map of the facility while the mobile device is within the proximity of the destination, wherein the updates are pushed from a server to the communication device.

18. The non-transitory computer program product of claim 15, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to perform:

providing directions for navigating the mobile device from the starting location to the destination within the geographical area upon receipt of the dispatch instructions, wherein the directions for navigating are provided audibly.

20. The non-transitory computer program product of claim 15, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processor, further cause the processor to perform:

tracking at least one of inventory and location of a mobile asset, wherein the mobile asset is the mobile device or is transportable by the mobile device.
