Abstract

An electronic device, while in a restricted interaction mode in an application other than a call application, displays a first user interface that includes a plurality of user interface objects, and receives an incoming call. The electronic device determines whether the incoming phone call satisfies predefined signaling criteria. In accordance with a determination that the incoming call satisfies the predefined signaling criteria, the electronic device outputs a signal that indicates the incoming call. In accordance with a determination that the incoming phone call does not satisfy the predefined criteria, the electronic device foregoes outputting the signal indicating the incoming call.

Claims

1. An electronic device, comprising:

a display;

a touch-sensitive surface;

one or more processors;

memory; and

one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including a call application and instructions for;

while in a restricted interaction mode in an application other than the call application;

displaying a first user interface for the application that includes a plurality of user interface objects;

receiving an incoming call;

determining whether the incoming call satisfies predefined signaling criteria;

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call satisfies the predefined signaling criteria, outputting a signal that indicates the incoming call; and

,

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call does not satisfy the predefined signaling criteria, foregoing outputting the signal that indicates the incoming call.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein the predefined signaling criteria includes that the incoming call is from a respective phone number in a predefined list of one or more phone numbers.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein the predefined signaling criteria includes that the incoming call is from a particular phone number, and a number of calls from the particular phone number during a predefined time period exceeds a predefined number of calls.

4. The device of claim 1, including instructions for:

in accordance with the determination that the incoming call satisfies the predefined signaling criteria, displaying a user interface for the call application.

5. The device of claim 1, including instructions for, in accordance with the determination that the incoming call satisfies the predefined signaling criteria, displaying a second user interface that includes the plurality of user interface objects in the first user interface and one or more additional user interface objects not in the first user interface.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein the signal includes an audible indication of the incoming call.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein the signal includes a visual indication of the incoming call.

8. The device of claim 1, including instructions for:

in accordance with the determination that the incoming call does not satisfy the predefined signaling criteria, declining the incoming call and logging the incoming call as a missed call.

9. A method, comprising:

at an electronic device with a display, a touch-sensitive surface, and a call application;

while in a restricted interaction mode in an application other than the call application;

displaying a first user interface for the application that includes a plurality of user interface objects;

receiving an incoming call;

determining whether the incoming call satisfies predefined signaling criteria;

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call satisfies the predefined signaling criteria, outputting a signal that indicates the incoming call; and

,

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call does not satisfy the predefined signaling criteria, foregoing outputting the signal that indicates the incoming call.

10. A computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising a call application and instructions, which, when executed by an electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface, cause the device to:

while in a restricted interaction mode in an application other than the call application;

display a first user interface for the application that includes a plurality of user interface objects;

receive an incoming call; and

determine whether the incoming call satisfies predefined signaling criteria;

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call satisfies the predefined signaling criteria, output a signal that indicates the incoming call; and

,

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call does not satisfy the predefined signaling criteria, forego outputting the signal that indicates the incoming call.

11. A graphical user interface on an electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface, a memory storing a call application, and one or more processors to execute one or more programs stored in the memory, the graphical user interface comprising:

in a restricted interaction mode in an application other than the call application, a first user interface for the application that includes a plurality of user interface objects;

wherein;

an incoming call is received;

whether the incoming call satisfies predefined signaling criteria is determined;

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call satisfies the predefined signaling criteria, a signal that indicates the incoming call is output; and

,

in accordance with a determination that the incoming call does not satisfy the predefined signaling criteria, outputting the signal that indicate the incoming call is foregone.
