Abstract

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for downlink resource allocation associated with a shared frequency band. A WTRU may receive resource allocation information associated with a component carrier and at least one carrier segment. The component carrier and the least one carrier segment may each comprise a plurality of resource block groups (RBG). At least two bitmaps may be associated with the resource allocation information. A size of a resource block group (RBG) of the component carrier and the at least one carrier segment may be based on a combined number of resource blocks (RB) of the component carrier and the one or more carrier segments divided by a 3GPP Rel-8/Rel-10 RBG size of the component carrier. The WTRU may determine at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU using the resource allocation information and may receive and decode the at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU.

Claims

1. A method of downlink resource allocation associated with a shared frequency band, the method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), resource allocation information associated with a component carrier and at least one carrier segment, the component carrier and the least one carrier segment comprising a plurality of resource block groups (RBG), wherein at least two bitmaps are associated with the resource allocation information;

determining at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU using the resource allocation information; and

receiving and decoding the at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein a size of a RBG of the component carrier and a RBG of the at least one carrier segment is determined by a function of bandwidth of the component carrier.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the resource allocation information comprises two bitmaps, a first bitmap associated with the RBGs of the component carrier and the RBGs of a first carrier segment and a second bitmap is associated with the RBGs of a second carrier segment.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein a number of bits/RBG for the first bitmap is equal to a combined number of resource blocks (RB) in the component carrier and first carrier segment divided by the size of the RBG rounded up to a next highest whole number.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein a number of bits/RBG for the second bitmap is equal to a number of resource blocks (RB) in the second carrier segment divided by the size of the RBG rounded up to a next highest whole number.

The method of claim 3, wherein if a number of RBGs of the second carrier segment is not an integer multiple of the size of the RBGs, then a number of null RBs are inserted into a last RBG of the second carrier segment such that the number of null RBs plus the number of RBs of the second carrier segment is divisible by the size of the RBGs.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the number of null RBs is variable.

The method of claim 2, wherein the resource allocation information comprises three bitmaps, a first bitmap associated with the RBGs of a component carrier, a second bitmap associated with the RBGs of a first carrier segment, and a third bitmap associated with the RBGs of a second carrier segment.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein a number of bits/RBG for the first bitmap, the second bitmap, and the third bitmap is the number of resource blocks (RB) in the respective carrier divided by the size of the RBG rounded up to a next highest whole number.

The method of claim 8, wherein if the number of RBGs of the component carrier, the first carrier segment, and/or the second carrier segment is not an integer multiple of the size of the RBGs, then a number of null RBs are inserted into the last RBG of the respective carrier such that the number of null RBs plus the number of RBs of the respective carrier is divisible by the size of the RBGs.

11. A method of resource allocation associated with a shared frequency band, the method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), resource allocation information associated with a component carrier and at least one carrier segment, the component carrier and the least one carrier segment comprising a plurality of resource block groups (RBG), wherein a size of a RBG of the component carrier and the at least one carrier segment is based on a scaling factor multiplied by a 3GPP Rel-10 RBG size of the component carrier, the Rel-10 RBG size determined by a system bandwidth of the component carrier;

determining at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU using the resource allocation information; and

receiving and decoding the at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the scaling factor is determined by the maximum number of resource blocks (RB) of the component carrier and the one or more carrier segments.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein if a combined number of RBs of the one or more carrier segments is less than or equal to a number of RBs of the component carrier, then the scaling factor is two.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein if a combined number of RBs of the one or more carrier segments is greater than a number of RBs of the component carrier, then the scaling factor is x, wherein x equals a combined number of RBs of the component carrier and the one or more carrier segments divided by the number of RBs of the component carrier rounded up to a next highest whole number.

15. The method of claim 11, wherein the resource allocation information is associated with a bitmap and a number of bits for the bitmap is determined by a combined number of RBs of the component carrier and the one or more carrier segments divided by the size of a RBG.

16. The method of claim 11, wherein two or more consecutive RBs are grouped together into a RBG element according to the size of the RBG.

17. The method of claim 11, wherein a RB is grouped together with one or more nonconsecutive RB into a RBG element according to the size of the RBG.

18. A method of resource allocation associated with a shared frequency band, the method comprising:

receiving, by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), resource allocation information associated with a component carrier and at least one carrier segment, the component carrier and the least one carrier segment comprising a plurality of resource block groups (RBG), wherein a size of a resource block group (RBG) of the component carrier and the at least one carrier segment is based on a combined number of resource blocks (RB) of the component carrier and the one or more carrier segments divided by a number of RBGs of the component carrier as determined by 3GPP Rel-10 rounded up to a next highest whole number;

determining at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU using the resource allocation information; and

receiving and decoding the at least one RBG allocated to the WTRU.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the number of 3GPP Rel-10 RBGs of the component carrier is determined by dividing a system bandwidth of the component carrier by a 3GPP Rel-10 RBG size and rounding up to a next highest whole number.
