Abstract

A truck track drive can include two rollers. The truck track drive can also include a tread configured to pass over top and bottom of a dual rear wheel assembly on a truck and to be moved by rotation of the dual rear wheels. The track drive can also include a compulsory drive unit.

Claims

1. A truck track drive comprising:

two rollers, including a front roller disposed at a front end of a tension rod and a rear roller disposed at a rear end of a tension rod; and

a tread configured to pass over a top and a bottom of a dual rear wheel truck tire assembly and to pass over each of the rollers, the tread being powered by rotation of the dual rear wheel truck tire assembly.

2. The truck track drive of claim 1, wherein one of the truck tires includes drive teeth and the tread includes a plurality of openings configured to mate with the drive teeth of the one truck tire.

3. The truck track drive of claim 1, further comprising an outer shield member extending from the front roller to the rear roller.

4. The truck track drive of claim 1, wherein the tension rod includes a first portion and a second portion, each of the first and second portions having a threaded end.

The truck track drive of claim 4, further comprising a spacer disposed along the tension rod and coupled to the threaded end portions of the first and second portions of the tension rod, having internal threads configured to increase tension on the tension rod when rotated in a first direction and to decrease tension on the tension rod when rotate in a second direction.

6. A track drive comprising:

two rollers disposed at each end of a tension rod;

a tread configured to pass over a top and a bottom of a dual rear wheel truck tire assembly and to pass over each of the rollers, the tread being powered by rotation of the dual rear wheel truck tire assembly; and

a compulsory drive system having a toothed drive gear disposed between a first wheel and a second wheel of the dual rear wheel truck tire assembly, the tread having indentions on an inner circumference, the indentions being configured and spaced so as to be engage by the toothed drive gear.

7. The track drive of claim 6, further comprising an outer shield member extending from a front roller to a rear roller.

8. The track drive of claim 6, wherein the tension rod includes a first portion and a second portion, each of the first and second portions having a threaded end.

9. The track drive of claim 8, further comprising a spacer disposed along the tension rod and coupled to the threaded end portions of the first and second portions of the tension rod, having internal threads configured to increase tension on the tension rod when rotated in a first direction and to decrease tension on the tension rod when rotate in a second direction.

10. A track drive comprising:

a first roller disposed at a front end of a tension rod;

a second roller disposed at a rear end of the tension rod;

a tread configured to pass over a top and a bottom of a dual rear wheel truck tire assembly and to pass over each of the rollers, the tread being powered by rotation of the dual rear wheel truck tire assembly; and

a compulsory drive system having a toothed drive gear disposed between a first wheel and a second wheel of the dual rear wheel truck tire assembly, a chain and a driven gear coupled to the second roller, the second roller mechanically engaging the tread and causing it to move when the driven gear is turned.

11. The track drive of claim 10, further comprising an outer shield member extending from the first roller to the second roller.

12. The track drive of claim 10, wherein the tension rod includes a first portion and a second portion, each of the first and second portions having a threaded end.

13. The track drive of claim 12, further comprising a spacer disposed along the tension rod and coupled to the threaded end portions of the first and second portions of the tension rod, having internal threads configured to increase tension on the tension rod when rotated in a first direction and to decrease tension on the tension rod when rotate in a second direction.
