Light Harvesting
First Claim
1. A lighting-control system comprising:
- one or more lighting fixtures installed in a structure;
at least one ambient light information source configured to provide brightness information of ambient light of the structure; and
a controller configured to maintain a brightness level of an interior portion of the structure substantially the same as a brightness level of an exterior portion of the structure by controlling outputs of the one or more lighting fixtures in the interior portion in response to the brightness information of the ambient light.

Abstract
The current application is directed to control of lighting systems and utilization of ambient light levels for such control. One implementation comprises one or more lighting fixtures installed in a structure, at least one ambient light information source configured to provide brightness information of ambient light of the structure, and a controller configured to maintain a brightness level of an interior portion of the structure substantially the same as a brightness level of an exterior portion of the structure by controlling outputs of the lighting fixtures in response to the brightness information of the ambient light. The interior portion of the structure may include an entrance portion of the structure. The controller may be further configured to gradually reduce brightness levels of the outputs of the lighting fixtures from the entrance portion towards a center of the structure.

15. A lighting control method, comprising:
-
providing a plurality of lighting fixtures in a structure; providing brightness information of ambient light of the structure; and controlling a brightness level at an interior portion of the structure substantially the same as a brightness level at an exterior portion of the structure by adjusting outputs of the lighting fixtures in the interior portion based on the brightness information. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23)

24. A method of controlling lighting within a structure having a plurality of light sources, the method comprising:
-
obtaining a first light level externally to the structure; adjusting the plurality of light sources such that a second light level adjacent to an entrance of the structure is within a threshold of the first light level externally to the structure; and adjusting the plurality of light sources such that a third light level at a position within the structure distant from the entrance of the structure is not within the threshold of the first determined light level externally to the structure. - View Dependent Claims (25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31)

32. A non-transitory machine-readable medium for controlling lighting within a structure having a plurality of light sources, the machine-readable medium comprising machine instructions for:
-
obtaining a first light level externally to the structure; adjusting the plurality of light sources such that a second light level adjacent to an entrance of the structure is within a threshold of the first light level externally to the structure; and adjusting the plurality of light sources such that a third light level at a position within the structure distant from the entrance of the structure is not within the threshold of the first determined light level externally to the structure.
