Abstract

Provided are a computer implemented method, computer program product, and system for providing notifications. A ticket that specifies at least one activity to be performed, a location at which the activity is to be performed, and a period of time in which that activity is to occur is received. A message to be delivered is identified based on the activity, the location, and the period of time, wherein the message describes one or more measures to be taken based on the activity. The identified message describing the one or more measures is delivered to enable at least one of the measures to be taken before the activity occurs in the period of time specified in the ticket.

Claims

1. A method for providing notifications, comprising:

receiving, with a processor of a computer, a ticket that specifies at least one activity to be performed, a location at which the activity is to be performed, and a period of time in which that activity is to occur;

identifying a message to be delivered based on the activity, the location, and the period of time, wherein the identified message describes one or more measures to be taken based on the activity; and

delivering the identified message describing the one or more measures to enable at least one of the measures to be taken before the activity occurs in the period of time specified in the ticket.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the identified message is delivered to enable at least one of the measures to be taken during the activity.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the identified message is a safety message, wherein a problem occurs during the activity, and wherein the identified message describes at least one measure is to be taken in response to the problem.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the identified message to be delivered is identified based on any previously delivered messages and based on a schedule.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

recording the delivery of the identified message;

receiving a request from an operator for information on one or more delivered messages; and

responding to the request with information on the delivered messages, wherein the information includes content of each message that was sent, which stakeholders received each message, and when the stakeholders received each message.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining that the message is to be delivered in response to determining that there has been a ticket entry action, a ticket update action, a ticket locate action, receipt of a positive response or based on a schedule.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying a delivery option, wherein the delivery option is one of delivery to the one-call gateway for a ticket entry action, a ticket update action, and a ticket locate action.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying a delivery option, wherein the delivery option for a just-in-time positive response message is electronic mail or facsimile, and wherein the just-in-time positive response message is sent when a positive response is received from an operator.

9. A computer program product for providing notifications, the computer program product comprising:

a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied therein, the computer readable program code, when executed by a processor of a computer, is configured to perform;

receiving a ticket that specifies at least one activity to be performed, a location at which the activity is to be performed, and a period of time in which that activity is to occur;

identifying a message to be delivered based on the activity, the location, and the period of time, wherein the identified message describes one or more measures to be taken based on the activity; and

delivering the identified message describing the one or more measures to enable at least one of the measures to be taken before the activity occurs in the period of time specified in the ticket

10. The computer program product of claim 9, wherein the identified message is delivered to enable at least one of the measures to be taken during the activity.

11. The computer program product of claim 9, wherein the identified message is a safety message, wherein a problem occurs during the activity, and wherein the identified message describes at least one measure is to be taken in response to the problem.

12. The computer program product of claim 9, wherein the identified message to be delivered is identified based on any previously delivered messages and based on a schedule.

13. The computer program product of claim 9, wherein the computer readable program code, when executed by the processor of the computer, is configured to perform:

recording the delivery of the identified message;

receiving a request from an operator for information on one or more delivered messages; and

responding to the request with information on the delivered messages, wherein the information includes content of each message that was sent, which stakeholders received each message, and when the stakeholders received each message.

14. The computer program product of claim 9, wherein the computer readable program code, when executed by the processor of the computer, is configured to perform:

determining that the message is to be delivered in response to determining that there has been a ticket entry action, a ticket update action, a ticket locate action, receipt of a positive response or based on a schedule.

15. The computer program product of claim 9, wherein the computer readable program code, when executed by the processor of the computer, is configured to perform:

identifying a delivery option, wherein the delivery option is one of delivery to the one-call gateway for a ticket entry action, a ticket update action, and a ticket locate action.

16. The computer program product of claim 9, wherein the computer readable program code, when executed by the processor of the computer, is configured to perform:

identifying a delivery option, wherein the delivery option for a just-in-time positive response message is electronic mail or facsimile, and wherein the just-in-time positive response message is sent when a positive response is received from an operator.

17. A computer system for providing notifications, comprising:

a processor; and

a storage device coupled to the processor, wherein the storage device has stored thereon a program, and wherein the processor is configured to execute instructions of the program to perform operations, wherein the operations comprise;

receiving, with a processor of a computer, a ticket that specifies at least one activity to be performed, a location at which the activity is to be performed, and a period of time in which that activity is to occur;

identifying a message to be delivered based on the activity, the location, and the period of time, wherein the identified message describes one or more measures to be taken based on the activity; and

delivering the identified message describing the one or more measures to enable at least one of the measures to be taken before the activity occurs in the period of time specified in the ticket.

18. The computer system of claim 17, wherein the identified message is delivered to enable at least one of the measures to be taken during the activity.

19. The computer system of claim 17, wherein the identified message is a safety message, wherein a problem occurs during the activity, and wherein the identified message describes at least one measure is to be taken in response to the problem.

20. The computer system of claim 17, wherein the identified message to be delivered is identified based on any previously delivered messages and based on a schedule.

21. The computer system of claim 17, further comprising:

recording the delivery of the identified message;

receiving a request from an operator for information on one or more delivered messages; and

responding to the request with information on the delivered messages, wherein the information includes content of each message that was sent, which stakeholders received each message, and when the stakeholders received each message.

22. The computer system of claim 17, further comprising:

determining that the message is to be delivered in response to determining that there has been a ticket entry action, a ticket update action, a ticket locate action, receipt of a positive response or based on a schedule.

23. The computer system of claim 17, further comprising:

identifying a delivery option, wherein the delivery option is one of delivery to the one-call gateway for a ticket entry action, a ticket update action, and a ticket locate action.

24. The computer system of claim 17, further comprising:

identifying a delivery option, wherein the delivery option for a just-in-time positive response message is electronic mail or facsimile, and wherein the just-in-time positive response message is sent when a positive response is received from an operator.
