Abstract

A method and apparatus for controlling a motion-based user interface are provided. The apparatus includes a touch screen for displaying an image and for receiving input of a user touch on at least one spot of the touch screen, a sensor unit for sensing a motion of the apparatus, a motion calculator for calculating a degree of the motion of the apparatus, when sensing the motion of the apparatus at the sensor unit, and a controller for, when the at least one spot is touched on the touch screen, determining the number of touched spots, for receiving information about the degree of the motion of the apparatus from the motion calculator, and for determining whether to change the size of the image or the position of the image according to the number of touched spots.

Claims

1. An apparatus for controlling a motion-based user interface, the apparatus comprising:

a touch screen for displaying an image and for receiving input of a user touch on at least one spot of the touch screen;

a sensor unit for sensing a motion of the apparatus;

a motion calculator for, when sensing the motion of the apparatus at the sensor unit, calculating a degree of the motion of the apparatus; and

a controller for, when the at least one spot is touched on the touch screen, determining the number of touched spots, for receiving information about the degree of the motion of the apparatus from the motion calculator, and for determining whether to change the size of the image or the position of the image according to the number of touched spots.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein when the apparatus moves in a facing direction of the touch screen, the controller enlarges the image on the touch screen.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein when the apparatus moves in an opposite direction to the facing direction of the touch screen, the controller shrinks the image on the touch screen.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein if the number of touched spots is 2 or more, the controller recognizes the input as a command for enlarging or shrinking the image and enlarges or shrinks the image according to the degree of the motion of the apparatus calculated by the motion calculator.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein if the number of touched spots is 1, the controller recognizes the input as a command for shifting the image and controls shifting of the image according to the degree of the motion of the apparatus calculated by the motion calculator.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the sensor unit includes a gyroscope, and

wherein the motion calculator calculates a degree to which the apparatus moves up, down, to the left, to the right, back, or forth or a degree to which the apparatus is inclined forward, reclined backward, rotated to the left, or rotated to the right, using the gyroscope.

16. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the image is a Web page.

7. A method for controlling a motion-based user interface, the method comprising:

displaying an image on a touch screen;

when at least one spot is touched on the touch screen, determining a number of the at least one touched spot;

determining whether to change the size of the image or the position of the image according to the number of touched spots; and

changing the size of the image or the position of the image according to a motion of an apparatus including the touch screen.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein when the apparatus moves in a facing direction of the touch screen, the changing of the size or position of the image comprises enlarging the image on the touch screen.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein when the apparatus is inclined in a facing direction of the touch screen, the changing of the size or position of the image comprises enlarging the image on the touch screen.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein when the apparatus moves in an opposite direction to a facing direction of the touch screen, the changing of the size or position of the image comprises shrinking the image on the touch screen.

11. The method of claim 7, wherein when the apparatus is reclined in an opposite direction to a facing direction of the touch screen, the changing of the size or position of the image comprises shrinking the image on the touch screen.

12. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the determination of whether to change the size or position of the image comprises recognizing the touch as a command for enlarging or shrinking the image, if the number of touched spots is 2 or more, and

wherein the changing of the size or position comprises enlarging or shrinking the image according to a calculated degree of the motion of the apparatus.

13. The method of claim 7, wherein the determination of whether to change the size or position of the image comprises recognizing the touch as a command for shifting the image, if the number of touched spots is 1 and the changing comprises shifting the image in a user-desired direction according to a calculated degree of the motion of the apparatus.

14. The method of claim 7, wherein a degree of the motion of the apparatus is measured by calculating a degree to which the apparatus moves up, down, to the left, to the right, back, or forth or a degree to which the apparatus is inclined forward, backward, to the left, or to the right.

17. The method of claim 7, wherein the image is a Web page.

15. A method for controlling a motion-based user interface, the method comprising:

outputting an image to an output unit;

when sensing input of at least one button through an input unit, determining a number of the at least one button;

determining whether to change the size of the image or the position of the image according to the number of sensed buttons; and

changing the size of the image or the position of the image according to a motion of an apparatus including the input unit and the output unit.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein the image is a Web page.
