Abstract

Systems and methods for generating edited media. In an embodiment, one or more media assets are received. A theme template comprising one or more entries is retrieved, and the entries are populated with the received media assets to generate one or more composite media products. The media assets may comprise both static and dynamic media assets from multiple data sources. For instance, the dynamic media assets may be user-supplied, whereas the static media assets are retrieved from a structured database and remain the same for a given theme template.

Claims

1. A system for generating edited media, the system comprising:

at least one hardware processor; and

at least one executable software module that, when executed by the at least one hardware processor,

receives at least one media asset,

retrieves at least one theme template comprising at least one entry, and

populates the at least one entry of the at least one theme template with the at least one media asset to generate one or more composite media products.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein receiving at least one media asset comprises receiving a plurality of media assets from at least one data source, wherein the at least one theme template comprises a plurality of entries, and wherein populating the at least one entry of the at least one theme template comprises populating the plurality of entries of the at least one theme template with the plurality of media assets to generate a composite media product.

The system of claim 2, wherein receiving a plurality of media assets from at least one data source comprises retrieving a plurality of static media assets which are specific to the theme template from a first data source and receiving at least one dynamic media asset from at least a second data source.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the second data source is a user device.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein receiving at least one dynamic media asset from at least a second data source comprises receiving a plurality of dynamic media assets from at least a second data source and a third data source.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the third data source is a device which is different than the user device.

7. The system of claim 3, wherein the second data source is a product inventory comprising a plurality of products, and wherein the at least one executable software module populates the plurality of entries of the at least one theme template with the plurality of media assets to generate a composite media product for each product in the product inventory.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the theme template comprises a plurality of entries comprising a placeholder for a static media asset and a placeholder for a dynamic media asset.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the plurality of entries further comprise a placeholder for a specific media asset within a data structure.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the plurality of entries further comprise a mapping of a variable to a specific media asset within a data structure.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the plurality of entries further comprise a mapping of a variable to a parameter associated with a media asset.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one executable software module also sends the one or more composite media products to one or more recipients.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one executable software module also sends a reference to access the one or more composite media products to one or more recipients.

14. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one executable software module posts the one or more composite media products to one or more remote sites.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the one or more remote sites comprise a social networking site.

16. A method for generating edited media, the method comprising, by at least one hardware processor:

receiving at least one media asset;

retrieving at least one theme template comprising at least one entry; and

populating the at least one entry of the at least one theme template with the at least one media asset to generate one or more composite media products.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein receiving at least one media asset comprises receiving a plurality of media assets from at least one data source, wherein the at least one theme template comprises a plurality of entries, and wherein populating the at least one entry of the at least one theme template comprises populating the plurality of entries of the at least one theme template with the plurality of media assets to generate a composite media product.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein receiving a plurality of media assets from at least one data source comprises retrieving a plurality of static media assets which are specific to the theme template from a first data source and receiving at least one dynamic media asset from at least a second data source.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the second data source is a user device.

20. The method of claim 16, wherein the theme template comprises a plurality of entries comprising a placeholder for a static media asset and a placeholder for a dynamic media as set.

21. A system for authoring a theme template, the system comprising:

at least one hardware processor; and

at least one executable software module that, when executed by the at least one hardware processor,

receives a layout of a media sequence,

receives one or more attributes of the layout,

generates a theme template from the layout and the one or more attributes,

provides a preview of the theme template, and

sends the theme template to one or more destinations.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the layout comprises one or more of an effect, a transition, an audio recording, and a placeholder for user-supplied media.

23. The system of claim 22, wherein the layout also comprises a placeholder for static media.

24. The system of claim 21, wherein the one or more attributes comprise one or more variables for user-supplied content.

25. The system of claim 21, wherein the at least one executable software module also:

receives a plurality of media elements; and

for each of the plurality of media elements,

populates the theme template with the media element, and

provides a preview of the populated theme template.

26. The system of claim 25, wherein populating the theme template with the media element comprises populating the theme template with a lower resolution version of the media element.

27. The system of claim 21, wherein the at least one executable software module provides the preview of the theme template within a media page.

28. The system of claim 27, wherein the at least one executable software module provides the preview of the theme template within the media page by:

receiving at least one media element;

populating the theme template with the at least one media element;

retrieving a template of the media page; and

populating the template of the media page with the populated theme template.

29. The system of claim 21, wherein the one or more destinations comprise a theme manager, the system further comprising the theme manager that:

receives a modification of a status associated with one or more theme templates; and

updates the status of the one or more theme templates based on the modification of the status.

30. The system of claim 29, wherein the theme manager also manages conditions on an availability of the one or more theme templates.

31. A method for authoring a theme template, the method comprising, by at least one hardware processor:

receiving a layout of a media sequence;

receiving one or more attributes of the layout;

generating a theme template from the layout and the one or more attributes;

providing a preview of the theme template; and

sending the theme template to one or more destinations.

32. The method of claim 31, wherein the layout comprises one or more of an effect, a transition, an audio recording, and a placeholder for user-supplied media.

33. The method of claim 32, wherein the layout also comprises a placeholder for static media.

34. The method of claim 31, wherein the one or more attributes comprise one or more variables for user-supplied content.

35. The method of claim 31, further comprising:

receiving a plurality of media elements; and

for each of the plurality of media elements,

populating the theme template with the media element, and

providing a preview of the populated theme template.

36. The method of claim 35, wherein populating the theme template with the media element comprises populating the theme template with a lower resolution version of the media element.

37. The method of claim 31, wherein providing a previous of the theme template comprises providing the preview of the theme template within a media page.

38. The method of claim 37, wherein providing the preview of the theme template within a media page comprises:

receiving at least one media element;

populating the theme template with the at least one media element;

retrieving a template of the media page; and

populating the template of the media page with the populated theme template.

39. The method of claim 31, wherein the one or more destinations comprise a theme manager, and the method further comprises, by the theme manager:

receiving a modification of a status associated with one or more theme templates; and

updating the status of the one or more theme templates based on the modification of the status.

40. The method of claim 39, further comprising, by the theme manager, managing conditions on an availability of the one or more theme templates.

41. A system for generating a personalized interactive site, the system comprising:

at least one hardware processor; and

at least one executable software module that, when executed by the at least one hardware processor,

receives at least one media element,

retrieves at least one interactive site template comprising at least one entry, and

populates the at least one entry of the interactive site template with the at least one media element to generate an interactive site.

42. The system of claim 41, wherein the at least one executable software module also associates the generated interactive site with a uniform resource locator (URL).

43. The system of claim 42, wherein the interactive site is available at the URL for a predetermined period of time is and is unavailable at the URL after the predetermined period of time.

44. The system of claim 41, wherein the at least one executable software module also:

receive at least one media asset;

retrieves at least one theme template comprising at least one entry; and

populates the at least one entry of the at least one theme template with the at least one media asset to generate the at least one media element.

45. The system of claim 44, wherein the at least one executable software module also sends one or more of the at least one media element and a link to the at least one media element to one or more recipients.

46. The system of claim 44, wherein the at least one executable software module posts the at least one media element to one or more remote sites.

47. The system of claim 46, wherein the one or more remote sites comprise a social networking site.

48. The system of claim 44, wherein the at least one media asset comprises a plurality of media assets, and wherein the plurality of media assets are received from two or more data sources.

49. The system of claim 48, wherein at least one of the two or more data sources is a user device.

50. The system of claim 48, wherein at least one of the two or more data sources is an automated surveillance system.

51. A method for generating a personalized interactive site, the method comprising, by at least one hardware processor:

receiving at least one media element;

retrieving at least one interactive site template comprising at least one entry; and

populating the at least one entry of the interactive site template with the at least one media element to generate an interactive site.

52. The method of claim 51, further comprising associating the generated interactive site with a uniform resource locator (URL).

53. The method of claim 52, further comprising providing the generated interactive site at the URL for a predetermined period of time is and not providing the generated interactive site at the URL after the predetermined period of time.

54. The method of claim 51, further comprising:

receiving at least one media asset;

retrieving at least one theme template comprising at least one entry; and

populating the at least one entry of the at least one theme template with the at least one media asset to generate the at least one media element.

55. The method of claim 54, further comprising sending one or more of the at least one media element and a link to the at least one media element to one or more recipients.

56. The method of claim 54, further comprising posting the at least one media element to one or more remote sites.

57. The method of claim 56, wherein the one or more remote sites comprise a social networking site.

58. The method of claim 54, wherein the at least one media asset comprises a plurality of media assets, and wherein the plurality of media assets are received from two or more data sources.

59. The method of claim 58, wherein at least one of the two or more data sources is a user device.

60. The method of claim 58, wherein at least one of the two or more data sources is an automated surveillance system.
