Abstract

Channel resource allocation is disclosed. Embodiments of channel resource allocation allocate channel resources to plural cells or cell sections according to a classification depending on distribution statistics.

Claims

1. In a multi-user cellular wireless communications system providing one or more wireless services in plural cells or cell sections forming areas of wireless service, a method of channel resource allocation comprising:

generating a classification, the classification representing at least one potential susceptibility;

assigning a channel resource reuse-factor to each of the one or more classes of the classification; and

allocating communication channel resources to the plural cells or cell sections, wherein the allocation in at least one class of the classification is provided according to the classification depending on distribution statistics.

2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the statistics represent geographical distribution of one of the group consisting of

(a) users,

(b) user equipment devices, and

(c) communications of such devices

within a cell or cell section.

3. The method according to claim 2 wherein the statistics is represented by one of the group consisting of:

(a) one or more objective functions, and

(b) weighted sum of one or more objective functions.

4. The method according to claim 2, wherein the statistics is associated with allocation of channel resources resulting in non-orthogonal signals of to two or more cells or cell sections.

5. The method according to claim 3 wherein the channel resource reuse factor of the two or more cells is greater than 1.

6. The method according to claim 4 wherein the channel resource reuse factor of the two or more cells is greater than 1.

7. The method according to claim 2 comprising

assigning channel resources of a class of the classification according to a cyclic expansion of assigned channel resources in relation to a predetermined value within a range of available channel resources.

8. The method according to claim 2 comprising

adapting the channel resource allocation to statistics varying over time.

9. The method according to claim 2 wherein

the classification is based upon geographical or electromagnetic propagation distance of target from serving base station.

10. The method according to claim 2 wherein

the classification comprises at least two classes, wherein the two classes are assigned different channel resource reuse factors

11. The method according to claim 2 comprising determining a set of decision variables representing number of channel resources allocated to various cells or cell sections.

12. The method according to claim 2 comprising determining a channel resource allocation, such as a frequency or Physical Resource Blocks (PRB) allocation, by evolutionary processing refining the set of decisions variables recursively.

13. An apparatus of channel resource allocation in a multi-user cellular wireless communications system providing one or more wireless services in plural cells or cell sections forming areas of wireless service comprising:

first processing circuitry, configured to assign a channel resource reuse-factor to one or more base stations, each serving a cell;

second processing circuitry, configured to determine communication channel resource allocation to the plural cells or cell sections according to a classification, the classification discriminating on at least one potential susceptibility, the allocation depending on statistics representing distribution; and

communication interface circuitry, configured to communicate channel resources assignment as determined to a base station serving a cell or cell sector.

14. The method according to claim 13 wherein the statistics representing distribution of one of the group consisting of

(a) users,

(b) user equipment devices, and

(c) communications of such devices

within a cell or cell section.

15. The apparatus according to claim 13 comprising data storage device, configured to store statistics of at least one susceptibility measure.

16. The apparatus according to claim 13, wherein the data storage device stores statistics of an interference level.
