22. A method of making oblong optode sensing agents, the method comprising:

a) providing a mold comprising one or more pores; b) coating the interior surfaces of the one or more pores with a first material, the first material forming a semipermeable membrane; c) applying a second material to the one or more coated pores from b) such that the second material fills the one or more coated pores, the second material comprising one or more sensors; d) applying the first material to the ends of the one or more coated pores filled with the second material; e) permitting the first and second materials to form the oblong optode sensing agents; and f) releasing the oblong optode sensing agents from the mold. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32)
