Abstract

Described are systems for providing contextually relevant data to participants of an electronic communication. A screen sharing session is established between a plurality of participants of the electronic communication. A set of contextual relevance data is determined between contents of the screen sharing session, at least one of the participants, and external data related to the at least one of the participants. The screen sharing session is changed to include the contextual relevance data.

18. A system for displaying content in an electronic communication, comprising:

a shared content identification module that scans a screen sharing session to identify contents of the screen sharing session;

an context engine module that determines a contextual relevance data between identified contents of the screen sharing session, at least one of the participants, and external data related to the at least one of the participants; and

a relevance data overlay module that augments the screen sharing session to include the contextual relevance data.

19. The system of claim 18, further comprising a rules engine module that defines one or more rules for identifying the contents of the screen sharing session.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein the rules engine module defines one or more rules for outputting the external data to the screen sharing session from a data source.

21. The system of claim 18, further comprising a view control module that provides the participants with the ability to view the contextual relevance to themselves, or to one or more other participants.

22. The system of claim 18, wherein the context engine module compares the identified contents of the screen sharing session with the external data to verify that the identified contents are contextually relevant to the at least one of the participants.

23. A computer program product for providing contextually relevant data to participants of an electronic communication, comprising:

a computer readable storage medium having computer readable program code embodied therewith, the computer readable program code comprising;

computer readable program code configured to establish a screen sharing session between a plurality of participants of the electronic communication;

computer readable program code configured to determine contextual relevance data between contents of the screen sharing session, at least one of the participants, and external data related to the at least one of the participants; and

computer readable program code configured to augment the screen sharing session to include the contextual relevance data.
