Abstract

A method for verifying and identifying users, and for verifying users'"'"' identity, by means of an authentication device capable of transmitting, receiving and recording audio or ultrasonic signals, and capable of converting the signals into digital data, and performing digital signal processing. Voice pattern(s) and user(s) information of one or more authorized user(s) are recorded and stored on the authentication device. User(s) identification is verified by inputting to the authentication device a vocal identification signal from a user, and comparing the voice pattern of the vocal identification signal with the recorded voice pattern(s) of the authorized user(s), and if a match is detected issuing an indication that the user is identified as an authorized user.

Claims

1. A system for at least one of identifying and authenticating a source of received electronic data, said system comprising:

an electronic device configured for receiving a first signal from a source, configured for generating an indication of at least one of the identification of the source of the received first signal and the verification of the source of the received first signal, and configured for transmitting a second signal; and

a remote server configured for receiving a signal from said electronic device and configured for transmitting a signal to said electronic device;

wherein said electronic device is configured for analyzing the first signal received from the source, said analyzing including at least one of digital signal processing, voice recognition, and voice verification.

2. The system according to claim 1, wherein said system is further configured for performing an authenticating procedure for the source of the received first signal and, if it is determined that the source of the received first signal is authentic, transmitting an indication that the source is authentic.

3. The system according to claim 1, wherein said electronic device includes:

a recording device configured for recording data;

a processor configured for performing digital signal processing to extract digital data from the received first signal and to compare the extracted digital data with the recorded data;

a storage device configured for storing the extracted data.

4. The system according to claim 1, wherein the first signal from the source is received via one of a telephony transmission, a television broadcast, a radio broadcast, and an Internet site.

5. The system according to claim 2, further comprising a computer system connected to at least one of a computer network and the Internet, wherein one of said computer system and said remote server performs said authenticating procedure.

6. The system according to claim 5, wherein said computer system is configured to receive the second signal from the electronic device and is configured to transmit a third signal to said remote server.

7. The system according to claim 1, wherein said electronic device is selected from a cellphone and a smart card comprising at least one of a magnetic strip and a smart chip.

8. The system according to claim 1, wherein the received first signal is one of an audio and an ultrasonic signal.

9. A system according to claim 2 wherein said electronic device is configured to perform an action selected from a predetermined set of actions whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic.

10. A system according to claim 9 wherein said electronic device is configured to transmit a predefined pattern of at least one of audio and ultrasonic signal whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic.

11. A system according to claim 9 wherein said electronic device is configured to launch one of a service on a computer system, a computer application, an on-line phone service, a Web site, and a Web application, whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic.

12. A system according to claim 9 wherein said electronic device is configured to perform one of:

activation and manipulation of a magnetic strip; and

activation of a smart chip;

whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic.

13. A system according to claim 2, wherein said remote server is configured for performing the source authenticating procedure, said remote server connected to at least one of a computer network and the Internet,

said system configured for receiving the first signal by a signal input device;

said electronic device configured for extracting data from the first signal, configured for fetching data from a database, and configured for comparing the fetched data with the extracted data; and

,

if a match is detected, transmitting an indication to said remote server that the source is verified.

14. A system according claim 3, wherein the extracted data are configured to be converted into digital data and modulated into an ultrasonic signal utilizing Frequency Shift Keying techniques.

15. A system according to claim 3, wherein said system is configured to utilize signal recognition for the source determining, said system configured to perform a verification procedure including comparing a signal pattern of the extracted data with a stored signal pattern.

16. A system according to claim 9, wherein said electronic device is further configured to limit the predetermined set of actions to at least one of a predetermined set of limitations including:

imposing limitations on user accessibility to at least one of the actions;

performing the at least one of the actions for a limited time;

performing a limited number of the at least one actions;

limiting a purchase sum allowed to a preselected value; and

limiting a number of interactions performed on a computerized system.

17. A system for one of identifying and authenticating a source of received electronic data, said system comprising:

an electronic device configured for receiving a first signal from a source, configured for generating an indication of at least one of the identification of the source of the received first signal and the verification of the source of the received first signal, and configured for transmitting a second signal; and

a remote server configured for receiving a signal from said electronic device and configured for transmitting a signal to said electronic device;

said system configured for performing an authenticating procedure for the source of the received first signal and, if it is determined that the source of the received first signal is authentic, launching one of a service on a computer system, a computer application, an on-line phone service, a Web site, and a Web application;

wherein said generating an indication includes analyzing at said electronic device the first signal received from the source, said analyzing including at least one of digital signal processing, voice recognition, and voice verification.

18. A method for at least one of identifying and authenticating a source of received electronic data, said method comprising:

receiving a first signal from a source on an electronic device;

generating by the electronic device an indication of at least one of the identification of the source of the received first signal and the verification of the source of the received first signal, and transmits a second signal; and

receiving on a remote server a signal from said electronic device;

transmitting a signal by said remote server to said electronic device;

wherein said generating an indication includes analyzing at said electronic device the first signal received from the source, said analyzing including at least one of digital signal processing, voice recognition, and voice verification.

19. The method according to claim 18, further comprising performing an authenticating procedure for the source of the received first signal and, if it is determined that the source of the received first signal is authentic, transmitting an indication that the source is authentic.

20. The method according to claim 18, further comprising:

recording data on the electronic device;

digital signal processing on the electronic device to extract digital data from the received first signal and to compare the extracted digital data with the recorded data; and

storing the extracted data on the electronic device.

21. The method according to claim 18, wherein the first signal from the source is received via one of a telephony transmission, a television broadcast, a radio broadcast, and an Internet site.

22. The method according to claim 19, wherein said authenticating procedure is performed on one of a computer system connected to at least one of a computer network and the Internet and a remote server.

23. The method according to claim 22, wherein said computer system receives the second signal from the electronic device and transmits a third signal to said remote server.

24. The method according to claim 18, wherein said electronic device is selected from a cellphone and a smart card comprising at least one of a magnetic strip and a smart chip.

25. The method according to claim 18, wherein said receiving a first signal includes one of receiving an audio signal and receiving an ultrasonic signal.

26. A method according to claim 19 wherein, whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic, said method further comprises performing by the electronic device an action selected from a predetermined set of actions.

27. A method according to claim 26 wherein, whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic, said method further comprises transmitting by the electronic device a predefined pattern of at least one of audio and ultrasonic signal.

28. A method according to claim 26 wherein, whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic, said method further comprises launching by the electronic device one of a service on a computer system, a computer application, an on-line phone service, a Web site, and a Web application.

29. A method according to claim 26 wherein, whenever an indication is transmitted that the source is authentic, said method further comprises performing by the electronic device one of:

activation and manipulation of a magnetic strip; and

activation of a smart chip.

30. A method according to claim 19, wherein the source authenticating procedure is performed by the remote server, said remote server connected to at least one of a computer network and the Internet, said method further comprising:

receiving the first signal by a signal input device;

extracting data from the first signal by the electronic device;

fetching data from a database by the electronic device; and

comparing the fetched data with the extracted data by the electronic device; and

,

if a match is detected, transmitting an indication to said remote server that the source is verified.

31. A method according claim 20, wherein the extracted data are converted into digital data and modulated into an ultrasonic signal utilizing Frequency Shift Keying techniques.

32. A method according to claim 20, further comprising utilizing signal recognition for the source authenticating, said verification including comparing a signal pattern of the extracted data with a stored signal pattern.

33. A method according to claim 26, said method further limiting the predetermined set of actions to at least one of a predetermined set of limitations including:

imposing limitations on user accessibility to at least one of the actions;

performing the at least one of the actions for a limited time;

performing a limited number of the at least one actions;

limiting a purchase sum allowed to a preselected value; and

limiting a number of interactions performed on a computerized system.
