Abstract

A game set and method for playing a strategy game on a playing surface by one or more persons including a plurality of playing pieces, each playing piece having a predetermined number of edges, wherein each edge is at least one of an exterior edge and a connecting edge; a plurality of playing cards, each playing card containing an indicia corresponding to the shape of one of the plurality of playing pieces; and a playing surface. Each player randomly selects a plurality of playing cards; exchanges each of the playing cards for a corresponding one of a plurality of playing pieces, and places each playing piece obtained by the exchange on a playing surface by (i) orienting an exterior edge according to a perimeter of the playing surface and (ii) orienting a connecting edge according to a corresponding connecting edge of an adjacent playing piece. The strategy game may be played in various configurations, including without playing cards, without playing pieces, without a game board, or with a timer.

Claims

1. A game set for playing a strategy game on a playing surface by one or more persons, the game set comprising:

a plurality of playing pieces, each playing piece having a predetermined number of edges, wherein each edge is at least one of an exterior edge and a connecting edge;

a plurality of playing cards, each playing card containing an indicia corresponding to a shape of one of the plurality of playing pieces; and

a playing surface.

2. The game set according to claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of playing pieces is selected from the group consisting of a playing piece having three edges, a playing piece having four edges, a playing piece having five edges, and a playing piece having six edges.

3. The game set according to claim 1, wherein the plurality of playing pieces include a plurality of corner playing pieces, a plurality of border playing pieces, and at least one interior playing piece.

4. The game set according to claim 3, wherein each of the plurality of corner playing pieces has two adjacent exterior edges.

5. The game set according to claim 3, wherein each of the plurality of border playing pieces has one exterior edge.

6. The game set according to claim 3, wherein each interior playing piece has no exterior edges.

7. The game set according to claim 1, wherein each connecting edge is selected from the group consisting of an edge with an interlocking design, a straight edge marked with an indicia, a straight edge marked with a color, and a straight edge marked with a number.

8. The game set according to claim 1, wherein the playing surface is a grid having a plurality of spaces corresponding to the plurality of playing pieces.

31. The game set according to claim 1, wherein each player is dealt an equal amount of playing cards to begin each of a plurality of sets, and wherein an amount of turns for each player in each set is limited to a predetermined number.

34. The game set according to claim 1, wherein one or more playing pieces are already on the playing surface at a beginning of a game.

37. The game set according to claim 1, further comprising a storage tray for storing the playing pieces, wherein the storage tray includes cavities respectively corresponding to different types of shapes of the playing pieces.

40. The game set according to claim 1, wherein the playing surface is a grid having a predetermined number of rows and columns.

9. A strategy game playable by one or more players, comprising:

means for randomly selecting a plurality of playing cards, each playing card containing an indicia corresponding to a shape of one of a plurality of playing pieces;

means for exchanging each of the plurality of playing cards for a corresponding one of a plurality of playing pieces, each playing piece having a predetermined number of edges, wherein each edge is either one of an exterior edge or a connecting edge; and

means for placing each of the plurality of playing pieces obtained in the exchanging step on a playing surface by orienting an exterior edge according to a perimeter of the playing surface and orienting a connecting edge according to a corresponding connecting edge of an adjacent playing piece.

10. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein each of the plurality of playing pieces is selected from the group consisting of a playing piece having three edges, a playing piece having four edges, a playing piece having five edges, and a playing piece having six edges.

11. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein the plurality of playing pieces include a plurality of corner playing pieces, a plurality of border playing pieces, and at least one interior playing piece.

12. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein each of the plurality of corner playing pieces has two adjacent exterior edges.

13. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein each of the plurality of border playing pieces has one exterior edge.

14. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein each interior playing piece has no exterior edges.

15. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein each connecting edge is selected from the group consisting of an edge with an interlocking design, a straight edge marked with an indicia, a straight edge marked with a color, and a straight edge marked with a number.

16. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein the playing surface is a grid having a plurality of spaces corresponding to the plurality of playing pieces.

17. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein all of the plurality of playing pieces are placed on the playing surface at an end of a game.

18. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein the plurality of playing cards of a player are decreased to zero at an end of a game.

32. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein each player randomly selects an equal amount of playing cards to begin each of a plurality of sets, and wherein an amount of turns for each player in each set is limited to a predetermined number.

35. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein one or more playing pieces are already on the playing surface at a beginning of a game.

38. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein unplayed playing pieces are stored in a storage tray for storing the playing pieces that includes cavities respectively corresponding to different types of shapes of the playing pieces.

41. The strategy game according to claim 9, wherein the playing surface is a grid having a predetermined number of rows and columns.

19. A strategy game playable by one or more players, comprising:

means for randomly selecting a plurality of playing cards, each playing card containing an indicia of a shape having a predetermined number of edges, wherein each edge is at least one of an exterior edge and a connecting edge; and

means for placing each playing card on a playing surface by orienting the indicia of an exterior edge according to a perimeter of the playing surface and orienting the indicia of a connecting edge according to a corresponding connecting edge of an adjacent playing card.

20. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein each playing card contains an indicia selected from the group consisting of a shape having three edges, a shape having four edges, a shape having five edges, and a shape having six edges.

21. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein the playing cards include a plurality of corner playing cards, a plurality of border playing cards, and at least one interior playing card.

22. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein each of the plurality of corner playing cards contain an indicia having two adjacent exterior edges.

23. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein each of the plurality of border playing cards contain an indicia having one exterior edge.

24. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein each interior playing card contains an indicia having no exterior edges.

25. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein each connecting edge is selected from the group consisting of an edge with an interlocking design, a straight edge marked with an indicia, a straight edge marked with a color, and a straight edge marked with a number.

26. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein the playing surface is a grid having three rows and three columns.

27. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein all of the plurality of interior playing cards of a player are placed on the playing surface at an end of a game.

28. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein the plurality of playing cards of a player are decreased to zero at an end of a game.

33. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein each player randomly selects an equal amount of playing cards to begin each of a plurality of sets, and wherein an amount of turns for each player in each set is limited to a predetermined number.

36. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein one or more playing cards are already on the playing surface at a beginning of a game.

42. The strategy game according to claim 19, wherein the playing surface is a grid having a predetermined number of rows and columns.

29. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having stored thereon sequences of instructions, the sequences of instructions including instructions, which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for playing a strategy game by one or more players, the method comprising steps of:

randomly selecting a plurality of playing cards, each playing card containing an indicia corresponding to the shape of one of the plurality of playing pieces;

exchanging each of the playing cards for a corresponding one of a plurality of playing pieces, each playing piece having a predetermined number of edges, wherein each edge is either one of an exterior edge or a connecting edge; and

placing each playing piece obtained in the exchanging step on a playing surface by orienting an exterior edge according to a perimeter of the playing surface and orienting a connecting edge according to a corresponding connecting edge of an adjacent playing piece.

30. A non-transitory computer-readable recording medium having stored thereon sequences of instructions, the sequences of instructions including instructions, which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method for playing a strategy game by one or more players, the method comprising steps of:

randomly selecting a plurality of playing cards, each playing card containing an indicia of a shape having a predetermined number of edges, wherein each edge is at least one of an exterior edge and a connecting edge; and

placing each playing card on a playing surface by orienting the indicia of an exterior edge according to a perimeter of the playing surface and orienting the indicia of a connecting edge according to a corresponding connecting edge of an adjacent playing card.

39. A strategy game playable by one or more players, comprising:

a plurality of predefined drawings configured to be selected randomly, each predefined drawing corresponding to a shape having a predetermined number of edges, wherein each edge is at least one of an exterior edge and a connecting edge,

wherein one or more of the predefined drawings are configured to be drawn on a drawing surface by orienting the indicia of an exterior edge according to a perimeter of the drawing surface and orienting the indicia of a connecting edge according to a corresponding connecting edge of an adjacent predefined drawing.
