Abstract

A connector provided on a projector has an RF chip. A plug connected to the connector has an RF chip at a position opposite to the RF chip of the connector. When a protruding section of the plug is inserted and fit into an aperture section of the connector, the RF chip of the plug and the RF chip of the connector perform wireless communication with each other in a non-contact state. Thus, a connecting tool can be easily attached to/detached from a receiving tool without breaking a terminal due to contact such as in a case where a conventional contact type terminal is used.

Claims

1. A connector system comprising:

a receiving unit; and

a connecting unit connected to the receiving unit,

the receiving unit having a first wireless communication section that performs wireless communication, wherein the first wireless communication section is configured to connect to a first converting circuit for converting a wired signal into a radio signal and for converting the radio signal into the wired signal, and

the connecting unit having a second wireless communication section that wirelessly communicates with the first wireless communication, wherein the second wireless communication section is configured to connect to a second converting circuit for converting the wired signal into the radio signal and for converting the radio signal into the wired signal.

2. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein

the connecting unit is connected to the receiving unit in a detachable manner.

3. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein

the second wireless communication section of the connecting unit comprises an electric-optical conversion section for converting an electric signal received from the first wireless communication section of the receiving unit into an optical signal.

4. The connector system according to claim 3, wherein

the connecting unit comprises an optical transmission path for transmitting the optical signal converted by the electric-optical conversion section.

5. The connector system according to claim 4, wherein

the second wireless communication section comprises an optical-electric conversion section for receiving an optical signal that propagates through the optical transmission path connected to the second wireless commutation section, and for converting the optical signal into an electric signal.

6. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein

the receiving unit comprises a power supply section for supplying power to the second wireless communication section.

7. The connector system according to claim 6, wherein

the first and second wireless communication sections have a plurality of transmitting antennas and receiving antennas.

8. The connector system according to claim 7, wherein

the power source supply section restricts power supply to the transmitting antennas and receiving antennas in order to prevent interference.

9. The connector system according to claim 7, wherein

the transmitting antennas and receiving antennas are positioned based on the plane of polarization of the transmitting antennas adjacent and the receiving antennas.

10. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein the first wireless communication section is sealed within the receiving unit and the second wireless communication section is sealed within the connecting unit.

11. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein

the connecting unit is inserted into the receiving unit in an insertion direction, and

the first wireless communication section and the second wireless communication section are positioned such that the insertion direction is orthogonal to a direction normal to an output surface of the radio signal emitted by the first wireless communication section and the second wireless communication section.

12. The connector system according to claim 1, further comprising:

a power supply system configured to supply power based on the connecting unit being coupled to the receiving unit.

13. The connector system according to claim 1, further comprising:

a cable including the connecting unit.

15. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein the first wireless communication section and the second wireless communication section communicate bidirectionally.

16. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein the second wireless communication section wirelessly communicates with the first wireless communication at a frequency associated with a millimeter-wave band.

17. The connector system according to claim 16, wherein the frequency greater than or equal to 25 GHz.

18. The connector system according to claim 16, wherein the frequency is greater than or equal to 40 GHz.

19. The connector system according to claim 16, wherein the frequency is greater than or equal to 60 GHz.

20. The connector system according to claim 1, wherein the second wireless communication section is at a position opposite to the first wireless communication section.

14. The connector system according to claim 14, wherein the cable includes the connecting unit at a first end and a second connecting unit at a second end.
