Abstract

A method of integrating business-related content into the execution of a game application is disclosed. A player of the game application is exposed to the business-related content within the context of the game. User actions within the game cause the game application to transparently re-direct the user to a customized corporate web site containing selected information from a business sponsor. Game-related user actions performed while the player is at the customized corporate web site cause the player to be exposed to additional business-related content from the business sponsor. The player may earn benefits while at the customized corporate web site. Some of the player benefits are real-life benefits external to the game application which may be utilized by the player after finishing the game. A record of external benefits is kept by the business sponsor. Other benefits may be immediately available to the player by pausing the game, thereby allowing the player to access the sponsor'"'"'s reward program. Following the occurrence of a pre-determined event, the game application transparently re-directs the player back to the original game site.

Claims

1. A method of integrating business-related content over a computerized network, into an electronic device that accesses a game application, from at least one secondary electronic device that accesses a plurality of web pages, the method comprising:

initiating a game application at said electronic device in response to a user request;

providing at least one customized web page at said secondary electronic device, said web page customized with business-related content for use with said game application;

automatically integrating said business-related content from said customized web page of said secondary electronic device into said game application during execution of said game application;

automatically re-directing said user to said customized web page on said secondary electronic device from said electronic device, said re-direction being integrated into said game application and said re-direction occurring as part of the user executing game-related actions during said game application;

executing a user action on said business-related content from said secondary electronic device; and

enabling the user to earn a benefit related to said business-related content based on said user action performed on said business-related content.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein said benefit for said user is calculated in real-time.

3. The method of claim 1, comprising the further step of:

transmitting said benefit to said user for use during the execution of said game application.

4. A system, comprising:

a primary electronic device configured to access a game application, said primary electronic device configured to initiate said game application in response to a user request;

a virtual reality platform interfaced with said primary electronic device, said virtual reality platform configured to provide a three-dimensional visualization in which said user is immersed during the execution of the game application;

a secondary electronic device interfaced with said primary electronic device over a network, said secondary electronic device configured to access a web page customized with business-related content for use with said game application, configured such that said business-related content from said customized web page of said secondary electronic device is automatically integrated into said game application during execution of said game application, configured such that said game application is automatically re-directed to said customized web page as part of the execution of said game application, so that said user is exposed to said business-related content during said three-dimensional visualization of said game application, and configured such that said re-direction is integrated into said game application and said re-direction occurs as part of the user executing said game application;

wherein a user action is performed on said business-related content from said secondary electronic device, said user action generating a benefit for said user relating to said business-related content, said benefit being external to said game application;

a memory device configured to communicate with at least one of the primary electronic device and the secondary electronic device to store said benefit earned by the user based on said user action performed on the business-related content.

A method of integrating business-related content over a computerized network, into a primary electronic device that executes a game application, from at least one secondary electronic device that provides business-related content which is accessed by said primary electronic device, said method comprising:

providing a virtual reality platform interfaced with said primary electronic device, said virtual reality platform configured to provide a three-dimensional visualization in which said user is immersed during the execution of the game application;

initiating said game application in response to a user request;

automatically integrating said business-related content from a customized web page of said secondary electronic device into said game application during execution of said game application;

automatically re-directing a content source for said virtual reality platform from said primary electronic device to said customized web page on said secondary electronic device as part of the execution of said game application;

exposing said user to said business-related content during said three-dimensional visualization at said secondary electronic device;

executing a user action on said business-related content from said secondary electronic device; and

earning the user a benefit based on said user action performed on the business-related content from said secondary electronic device, said benefit being external to said game application.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising providing each virtual reality platform at a franchised location.

7. A system, comprising:

a primary electronic device configured to access a plurality of applications, said primary electronic device configured to initiate at least one of said plurality of applications in response to a user request;

a virtual reality platform interfaced with said primary electronic device, said virtual reality platform configured to provide a three-dimensional visualization in which said user is immersed during execution of said at least one of said plurality of applications;

a secondary electronic device interfaced with said primary electronic device over a computerized network, said secondary electronic device configured to access a web page customized with content for use with said at least one of said plurality of applications, configured such that said content from said customized web page of said secondary electronic device is automatically integrated into said one of said plurality of applications during execution of said one of said plurality of applications, configured such that said one of said plurality of applications is automatically re-directed to said customized web page at said secondary electronic device as part of the execution of said at least one of said plurality of applications, and configured such that said re-direction is integrated into said one of said plurality of applications and said re-direction occurs as part of the user executing said one of said plurality of applications;

wherein a user action is executed on said content from said secondary electronic device, said user action generating a benefit for said user relating to said content, and

a memory device configured to communicate with at least one of the primary electronic device and the secondary electronic device to store said benefit earned by the user based on said user action performed on said content from the secondary electronic device.

8. A computer system which automatically integrates content into an electronic device, comprising:

at least one memory having at least one program which comprises the steps of;

receiving a request from a user at a primary electronic device to initiate at least one of a plurality of applications that are accessible at said primary electronic device;

initiating said at least one of said plurality of applications at said primary electronic device; and

automatically integrating content from a secondary electronic device that is configured to access a plurality of web pages, into said at least one of said plurality of applications during execution of said at least one of said plurality of applications;

automatically re-directing said user to one of said web pages at said secondary electronic device from said primary electronic device, said re-direction being integrated into said one of said plurality of applications and said re-direction occurring as part of the user executing said one of said plurality of applications; and

at least one processor configured to run the program.

9. A non-transitory, computer-readable medium containing executable code which automatically integrates content into an electronic device, comprising:

receiving a request from a user at a primary electronic device to initiate at least one of a plurality of applications that is accessible at said primary electronic device;

initiating said at least one of said plurality of applications at said primary electronic device, and

automatically integrating content from a secondary electronic device that is configured to access a plurality of web pages, into said at least one of said plurality of applications during execution of said at least one of said plurality of applications at said primary electronic device;

automatically re-directing said user to one of said web pages at said secondary electronic device from said primary electronic device, said re-direction being integrated into said one of said plurality of applications, said re-direction occurring as part of the user executing said one of said plurality of applications; and

executing a user action on said content from said secondary electronic device.
