Abstract

An operating device for a household appliance includes an electronic display panel, and an operating element that is displaceable relative to the display panel to set operating conditions of the household appliance. The operating element has a region which is disposed within an area of the display panel.

16. An operating device for a household appliance, comprising:

an electronic display panel; and

an operating element that is displaceable relative to the display panel to set operating conditions of the household appliance, said operating element comprises a region within an area of the display panel.

17. The operating device of claim 16, wherein the operating element comprises a rotary selector switch.

18. The operating device of claim 16, wherein the display panel further comprises an area for display of information which is changeable as a function of an activation of the operating element.

19. The operating device of claim 18, wherein the operating element is activated by a movement of the operating element to change the display of information.

20. The operating device of claim 16, further comprising a menu interface displayed on the display panel around the operating element.

21. The operating device of claim 20, wherein the menu interface is dynamically changeable.

22. The operating device of claim 20, wherein the menu interface comprises menu contents that are activatable as a function of a position of the operating element.

23. The operating device of claim 22, wherein the position comprises a rotary position of the operating element.

24. The operating device of claim 22, wherein activation of the menu contents is displayed through a member selected from the group consisting of illumination, change in a font size, number size, and symbol size.

25. The operating device of claim 22, wherein activation of one of the menu contents is displayed by a luminous color which differs from a luminous color of a non-activated one of the menu contents.

26. The operating device of claim 16, wherein the operating element comprises a region of a front face with an electronic display panel for displaying information.

27. The operating device of claim 16, wherein the operating element encloses an area having a touch-sensitive operating panel with which operating conditions of the household appliance can be set by touch.

28. The operating device of claim 16, wherein the menu interface comprises menu content defined by an information path to be displayed on the display panel, said information path being settable by the operating element or a further operating unit.

29. The operating device of claim 16, further comprising an operating unit separate from the operating element, said operating unit switching on or off the household appliance or interrupting a current program of the household appliance.

30. The operating device of claim 29, wherein the operating unit comprises a touch-sensitive operating panel.

31. The operating device of claim 29, wherein the operating unit is in the display panel.

32. The operating device of claim 29, wherein the operating unit is outside the display panel.

33. A household appliance, comprising:

an operating device which includes an electronic display panel, and

an operating element that is displaceable relative to the display panel for setting operating conditions of the household appliance and having a region within an area of the display panel.

34. The household appliance of claim 33, wherein the operating element comprises a rotary selector switch.

35. The household appliance of claim 33, wherein the display panel has an area for display of information which is changeable as a function of an activation of the operating element.

36. The household appliance of claim 35, wherein the operating element is activated by a movement of the operating element to change the display of information.

37. The household appliance of claim 33, wherein the operating device includes a menu interface displayable on the display panel around the operating element.

38. The household appliance of claim 37, wherein the menu interface is dynamically changeable.

39. The household appliance of claim 37, wherein the menu interface has menu contents activatable as a function of a position of the operating element.

40. The household appliance of claim 39, wherein the position comprises a rotary position of the operating element.

41. The household appliance of claim 39, wherein activation of the menu contents is displayed through a member selected from a group consisting of illumination, change in a font size, number size, and symbol size.

42. The household appliance of claim 39, wherein activation of one of the menu contents is displayed by a luminous color which differs from a luminous color of a non-activated one of the menu contents.

43. The household appliance of claim 33, wherein the operating element comprises a region of a front face of an electronic display panel for displaying information.

44. The household appliance of claim 33, wherein the operating element encloses an area having a touch-sensitive operating panel with which operating conditions of the household appliance can be set by touch.

45. The household appliance of claim 33, wherein the menu interface comprises a menu content defined by an information path displayed on the display panel, said information path being settable by the operating element or a further operating unit.

46. The household appliance of claim 33, wherein the operating device includes an operating unit that is separate from the operating element, said operating unit switching on or off the household appliance or interrupting a current program of the household appliance.

47. The household appliance of claim 46, wherein the operating unit comprises a touch-sensitive operating panel.

48. The household appliance of claim 46, wherein the operating unit is in the display panel.

49. The household appliance of claim 46, wherein the operating unit is outside the display panel.
