Abstract

A system, method, and apparatus are disclosed. The POV video mounting system described herein includes a casing assembly and a mounting assembly. The casing assembly is operable to fit an electronic device therein wherein the electronic device has video recording and video display capability. The mounting assembly is coupled to said casing assembly and operable to mount the apparatus to sports equipment.

Claims

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a casing assembly operable to fit an electronic device therein wherein said electronic device has video recording and video display capability; and

a mounting assembly coupled to said casing assembly and operable to mount said apparatus to sports equipment.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said casing assembly includes a touch screen membrane.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said casing assembly includes a transparent portion wherein a display portion of an electronic device assembled within said assembly is visible from outside of said assembly through said transparent portion.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said mounting assembly includes an adhesive component operable to affix said mounting assembly to said sports equipment.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said mounting assembly includes a first locking mechanism.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said sports equipment is a helmet.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said casing assembly includes a scratch resistant portion.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said casing assembly is waterproof.

9. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said mounting assembly includes a top hat component coupled thereto wherein said top hat component couples said mounting assembly and said casing assembly to sports equipment.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein said top hat component includes a plurality of feathered-shaped extensions.

11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein said electronic device is any of a smart-phone and a portable music player.

13. The point of view video mounting system of claim 11, wherein a foam tape adhesive is disposed on the bottom side of said top hat component.

14. The point of view video mounting system of claim 11, wherein said first locking mechanism prevents said casing assembly from rotating when first locking mechanism is engaged.

15. The point of view video mounting system of claim 11, wherein said mounting assembly further includes a second locking mechanism which prevents said smart-phone device from moving in a backwards or forward direction when said second locking mechanism is engaged.

16. The point of view video mounting system of claim 11, wherein said transparent portion includes a touch screen membrane operable to allow a user to activate functions on said smart-phone device0.

12. A point of view video mounting system, comprising:

a casing assembly having a transparent portion wherein said casing assembly includes a front casing plate and a back casing plate;

a smart-phone device having video recording and display capability disposed between said front casing plate and a back casing plate wherein said front casing plate includes said transparent portion and wherein said smart-phone device is visible through said transparent portion of said front casing plate;

a mounting hub coupled to a connection component of said casing assembly wherein said mounting assembly includes a first locking mechanism; and

a top hat component coupled to said mounting hub wherein said top hat component is operable to mount to sports equipment.

17. A method, comprising:

affixing a mounting assembly having a top hat component coupled thereto wherein said top hat component mounts to said sports equipment;

coupling said mounting assembly to a casing assembly; and

inserting an electronic device having video recording and display capabilities in said casing assembly.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein said top hat mounts to said sports equipment through the use of an adhesive.

19. The method of claim 17 further comprising setting said casing assembly to a desired angle relative to said sports equipment.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein setting said casing assembly to said desired angle includes applying force to edges of a set of spring-loaded members.
