Abstract

A computer implemented method includes receiving a request for payment-related information at a wireless device. The method also includes communicating between the wireless device and a paired vehicle computing system (VCS) to verify the presence of a known vehicle. Further, the method includes transmitting requested payment-related information, responsive to the verification of the presence of the known vehicle.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method comprising:

receiving a request for payment-related information at a wireless device;

communicating between the wireless device and a paired vehicle computing system (VCS) to verify the presence of a known vehicle; and

responsive to the verification of the presence of the known vehicle, transmitting requested payment-related information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the communicating further comprises receiving vehicle identification information and comparing the received vehicle identification information to information stored on the wireless device to verify the presence of the known vehicle.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the communicating further comprises transmitting wireless device identification information.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the payment-related information includes account information.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the payment-related information includes purchase validation information.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting requested payment-related information further includes transmitting requested payment information received at the wireless device from the VCS.

7. A computer implemented method comprising:

receiving a validation request at a vehicle computing system (VCS) from a paired wireless device;

receiving device identifying information from the wireless device;

validating an identity of the wireless device; and

responsive to validation of the identity of the wireless device, transmitting vehicle identifying information to the wireless device.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the device identifying information includes a mobile identification number.

9. The method of claim 7, wherein the device identifying information includes an electronic serial number.

10. The method of claim 7, wherein the device identifying information includes a processor ID number.

11. The method of claim 7, wherein the validating further includes comparing the received identifying information to previously stored identifying information.

12. The method of claim 7, wherein the vehicle identifying information includes a vehicle identification number.

13. The method of claim 7, wherein the vehicle identifying information includes an electronic serial number.

14. The method of claim 7, further comprising responsive to the validation of the identity of the wireless device, transmitting payment-related information to the wireless device.

15. The method of claim 7, wherein the vehicle identifying information includes an OEM issued certificate signature.

16. A computer readable storage medium, storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:

receiving a request for payment-related information at a wireless device;

communicating between the wireless device and a paired vehicle computing system (VCS) to verify the presence of a known vehicle; and

responsive to the verification of the presence of the known vehicle, transmitting requested payment-related information.

17. The computer readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the communicating further comprises receiving vehicle identification information and comparing the received vehicle identification information to information stored on the wireless device to verify the presence of the known vehicle.

18. The computer readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the communicating further comprises transmitting wireless device identification information.

19. The computer readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the payment-related information includes account information.

20. The computer readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the transmitting requested payment-related information further includes transmitting requested payment information received at the wireless device from the VCS.
