Abstract

The present invention provides a method for measuring a location. The method comprises: receiving, by a User Equipment (UE) and from a serving cell, information on a bandwidth allocated for a positioning reference signal (PRS); receiving, by the User Equipment (UE) and from at least one or more neighbor cells, information on a bandwidth allocated for a PRS; determining whether there is a difference between the bandwidths; and measuring, by the UE and based on a result of the determination a timing difference between PRSs transmitted from the serving cell and the at least one or more neighbor cells.

15. A method for measuring an observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA), the method performed by a terminal and comprising:

acquiring information on cell ids of neighbor cells;

acquiring at least one of information on bandwidth of neighbor cells and information on bandwidth of a reference cell; and

measuring a RSTD (Reference Signal Time Difference) using positioning reference signals, based on a minimum bandwidth between a serving cell'"'"'s bandwidth, a reference cell'"'"'s bandwidth, and neighbor cell'"'"'s bandwidth.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the serving cell'"'"'s bandwidth, the reference cell'"'"'s bandwidth, and the neighbor cell'"'"'s bandwidth are related to the positioning reference signal.

17. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

receiving, from a server, a request message for location information;

transmitting, a response message to the server.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein

the request message is a request location information message;

and

the response message is a provide location information message.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the provide location information message includes a positioning measurements.

20. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

receiving an assistance data for the OTDOA.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein at least one of the information on cell ids of neighbor cells, the information on bandwidth of neighbor cells and the information on bandwidth of the reference cell are included in the assistance data.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein the assistance data includes at least one of:

information on an antenna port configuration;

information on slot number offset;

information on sub-frame offset of PRS (Positioning Reference Signal).

23. The method of claim 20, wherein the assistance data includes at least one of:

a first field related to a RSTD value that the terminal is expected to measure between cells,

a second field related to an uncertainty in the RSTD value.

24. A user equipment for measuring an observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA), the user equipment comprising:

a transceiver unit to transceive signals; and

a controller which is configured to;

acquire information on cell ids of neighbor cells,

acquire at least one of information on bandwidth of neighbor cells and information on bandwidth of a reference cell, and

measure a RSTD (Reference Signal Time Difference) using positioning reference signals, based on a minimum bandwidth between a serving cell'"'"'s bandwidth, a reference cell'"'"'s bandwidth, and neighbor cell'"'"'s bandwidth.

25. The user equipment of claim 24, wherein the serving cell'"'"'s bandwidth, the reference cell'"'"'s bandwidth, and the neighbor cell'"'"'s bandwidth are related to the positioning reference signal.

26. The user equipment of claim 24, the controller is further configured to:

receive, from a server, a request message for location information;

transmit, a response message to the server.

27. The user equipment of claim 26, wherein

the request message is a request location information message;

and

the response message is a provide location information message.

28. The user equipment of claim 27, wherein the provide location information message includes a positioning measurements.

29. The user equipment of claim 24, the controller is further configured to:

receive an assistance data for the OTDOA.
