Abstract

In a system for delivering notifications to a network administrator'"'"'s web browser during normal web browsing, a transaction state management module disposed between the web browser and the Internet tracks and manages various states of communications, a notification module stores notification messages, and an authentication module is configured to authenticate web page requests. Upon identifying the administrator through the authentication module, a client-side proxy temporarily stores the original HTTP request. A notification generator module constructs a notification data, and a special link to acknowledge the notice, which are returned to the web browser. Once the administrator selects the link, the original HTTP request is extracted from storage and forwarded by a server-side proxy to the original destination server.

Claims

1. A system having a proxy engine, comprising:

a notification queue module configured to store one or more notification messages directed to a predetermined sender associated with the web browser in a queue;

an authentication module, communicatively coupled to the notification queue module, configured to authenticate whether a web page request is sourced from a predetermined sender;

a client-side proxy module, communicatively coupled to the transaction state management, configured to receive the web page request from the predetermined user and to return a response to the web browser associated with the predetermined user;

a notification generator module configured to construct a notification message for sending to the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser when there exists the notification message in the queue directed to the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser;

a server-side proxy module configured to communicate with a network and a web server; and

a transaction state management module configured to manage sequences of communications within the proxy engine for communication between the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser and the web server through the network and the server-side proxy module, the transaction state management module communicatively coupled to the notification queue module, the authentication module, the client-side proxy module, notification generator module, and the server-side proxy module.

The system of claim 1, further comprising a storage, communicatively coupled to the transaction state management, configured to store the original web page request from the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser until the predetermined user has acknowledged the notification message sent by the notification generator module.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the notification generator module is configured to place simple text string in the web page and provide an HTML link, the HTML page providing a first option that a task has been resolved and a second option that the task is to be addressed at a subsequent time.

The system of claim 3, wherein if there is a presence of a notification data for the predetermined user, the notification generator module is configured to construct a notification message, the client-side proxy module configured to send back the notification message to the predetermine user'"'"'s web page.

The system of claim 4, after the predetermined user has viewed the notification message, the predetermined clicks the link on the web page and triggers a new request in which the server-side proxy module configured to send to the web server for retrieval of an original content from the web page request.

6. The system of claim 1, further comprising a web page modification module, communicatively coupled to the transaction state management module, configured to create a new web page by modify the original web page to include a notification message.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein if there is no presence of a notification message for the predetermined user, the server-side proxy module is configured to receive the web page request from the client-side proxy module and send the web page request to the web server via the network.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein server-side proxy module is configured to receive the requested web page from the web server and to deliver the requested web page to the client-side proxy module, the client-side module configured to send the requested web page to the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the transaction state management module is configured to determines if this is a first time that the predetermined user is sending the web page request to the proxy engine.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the transaction state management module detects if the predetermined user has completed reading the notification message.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the predetermined sender comprises a network administrator.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the web page request comprises an HTML web page request.

13. A computer-implemented method for an alternative status notification, comprising:

receiving by a proxy device a web page request by a proxy device from a web browser;

authenticating by the proxy device the web page request to determine if the web page request is sourced from a network administrator;

determining by the proxy device if there is a notification message in a queue directed to the network administrator;

storing by the proxy device the original web page request for subsequent use; and

sending by the proxy device the notification message to the network administrator'"'"'s web browser.

14. The method claim 13, wherein the web page request comprises a web page request from a network administrator, the proxy device having a presence or no presence of a notification message in a queue directed to the network administrator.

15. The method claim 14, wherein the web page request comprises a web page request from a non-administrator, the proxy device treating the web page request as a normal proxy transaction and taking no action on the web page request.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the web page request comprises a follow-up response to a message notification after the message notification has been sent to a network administrator.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the web page request comprises an acknowledgement to the message notification.

18. The method of claim 17, further comprising:

updating or removing by the proxy device the notification from the queue in a notification queue module of the proxy device;

retrieving by the proxy device the original web page request from a temporary request storage, thereby reconnecting the network administrator and the original web page request;

retrieving by the proxy device the original web page from a web server via the Internet; and

returning by the proxy device the web page to the web browser.

19. A computer-implemented method for an alternative status notification, comprising:

receiving by a proxy device a web page request by a proxy device from a web browser;

authenticating by the proxy device the web page request to determine if the web page request is sourced from a network administrator;

determining by the proxy device if there is a notification message in a queue directed to the network administrator;

sending the web page request to the web server through a network and retrieving the returned web page;

creating a new web page by modifying the returned web page to include the notification message; and

sending the new web page to the network administrator'"'"'s web browser.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the creating step comprises placing the notification message at the top of the new web page.

21. The method of claim 19, wherein the creating step comprises injecting a javascript in which the notification message is a floating message that appears at the top of a computer screen of the network administrator.

22. The method of claim 19, wherein the creating step comprises embedding the notification message as part of the returned web page or response data.

23. A computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium structured to store instructions executable by a processor in a mobile device, the instructions, when executed cause the processor to:

a notification queue module configured to store one or more notification messages directed to a predetermined sender associated with the web browser in a queue;

an authentication module, communicatively coupled to the notification queue module, configured to authenticate if a web page request is sourced from a predetermined sender;

a client-side proxy module, communicatively coupled to the transaction state management, configured to receive the web page request from the predetermined user and to return a response to the web browser associated with the predetermined user;

a notification generator module configured to construct a notification message for sending to the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser when there exists the notification message in the queue directed to the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser;

a server-side proxy module configured to communicate with a network and a web server; and

a transaction state management module configured to manage sequences of communications within the proxy engine for communication between the predetermined user'"'"'s web browser and the web server through the network and the server-side proxy module, the transaction state management module communicatively coupled to the notification queue module, the authentication module, the client-side proxy module, notification generator module, and the server-side proxy module.
