Abstract

Technologies and implementations for providing an online game experience using multiple devices are generally disclosed.

Claims

6. A method for an online game, the method comprising:

by a first device, transmitting a request to utilize a second device for the online game, the first device having a first interaction with the online game; and

by the second device, receiving data associated with the online game to facilitate utilization of the second device with the first device, the received data capable of providing a second interaction with the online game, the second interaction related to the first interaction but being different from the first interaction.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein transmitting the request to utilize the second device comprises transmitting a request to utilize the second device as a component of the online game.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein transmitting the request to utilize the second device comprises transmitting a location of the first device and a location of the second device.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein receiving data comprises receiving data including an indication of a proximity error.

10. The method of claim 6 further comprising receiving data including an indication of a non-registered device.

11. The method of claim 6, wherein transmitting the request to utilize the second device comprises transmitting a location and orientation of the first and second devices.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein receiving data comprises receiving data having relational interactive data, the relational interactive data including data capable of facilitating utilization of the location and orientation of the first device relative to the location and orientation of the second device.

13. A machine readable non-transitory medium having stored therein instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, operatively enable an online game provider control module to:

receive first data from a first device, the received first data being associated with a first interaction with the online game;

receive a request to utilize a second device; and

responsive to the received request, transmit second data to the second device, the second data being associated with a second interaction with the online game, the second interaction related to the first interaction but being different from the first interaction.

The machine readable non-transitory medium of claim 13, wherein the stored instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, further operatively enable the online game provider control module to determine if the second device is a registered device, and include an indication of a non-registered device with the second data, if it is determined that the second device is not a registered device.

The machine readable non-transitory medium of claim 13, wherein the stored instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, further operatively enable the online game provider control module to determine a capability of the second device, and customize the second data based at least in part on the determined capability of the second device.

16. The machine readable non-transitory medium of claim 13, wherein the stored instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, further operatively enable the online game provider control module to determine a location of the first device, determine a location of the second device, determine a distance between the location of the first device and the location of the second device, and if it is determined that the determined distance between the location of the first device and the location of the second device is greater than a predetermined distance, include an indication of a proximity error with the second data.

The machine readable non-transitory medium of claim 13, wherein the stored instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, further operatively enable the online game provider control module to determine a location and orientation of the first device, determine a location and orientation of the second device, and include relational interactive data with the second data, wherein the relational interactive data includes data configured to utilize the location and orientation of the first device relative to the location and orientation of the second device.

18. An online game system comprising:

a first device operable to have a first interaction with an online game; and

a second device operable to receive data of the online game to facilitate utilization of the second device with the first device, the data capable of providing a second interaction with the online game, wherein the second interaction is related to the first interaction but different from the first interaction.

1. A method for providing an experience of an online game, the method comprising:

receiving first data from a first device, the received first data being associated with a first interaction with the online game;

receiving a request to utilize a second device; and

responsive to the received request, transmitting second data to the second device, the second data being associated with a second interaction with the online game, the second interaction related to the first interaction but being different from the first interaction.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining if the second device is a registered device; and

including an indication of a non-registered device with the second data, if it is determined that the second device is not a registered device.

3. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining a capability of the second device; and

customizing the second data based at least in part on the determined capability of the second device.

4. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining a location of the first device;

determining a location of the second device;

determining a distance between the location of the first device and the location of the second device; and

if it is determined that the determined distance between the location of the first device and the location of the second device is greater than a predetermined distance, including an indication of a proximity error with the second data.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining a location and orientation of the first device;

determining a location and orientation of the second device; and

including relational interactive data with the second data, wherein the relational interactive data includes data configured to utilize the location and orientation of the first device relative to the location and orientation of the second device.

19. The online game system of claim 18, wherein the first device is further operable to transmit a request to utilize the second device as a component of the online game.

20. The online game system of claim 18, wherein the first device is further operable to transmit a location of the first device and a location of the second device.

21. The online game system of claim 20, wherein data comprises data including an indication of a proximity error.

22. The online game system of claim 18, wherein data comprises data including an indication of a non-registered device.

23. The online game system of claim 18, wherein the first device is further configured to transmit a location and orientation of the first and second devices.

24. The online game system of claim 23, wherein data comprises data having relational interactive data capable of utilizing the location and orientation of the first device relative to the location and orientation of the second device.

25. The online game system of claim 18, wherein the first device comprises a gaming console.

26. The online game system of claim 18, wherein the second device comprises a mobile device.

27. The online game system of claim 26, wherein the mobile device comprises at least one of a mobile phone, personal digital assistant, laptop computer, or tablet personal computer.
