Abstract

Given the rise in popularity of communicating personal, private, sensitive, or vital peer-to-peer or peer-to-group information over potentially insecure text messaging infrastructure, it would be desirable to provide a solution that enables the exchange of this type of information securely over at least one path via data and/or voice networks. Furthermore, it would be highly desirable to enable access to the secure exchange of information over the at least one path by a given entity, as well as other computer applications that the given entity may use.

Claims

1. An enterprise console for facilitating secure short messaging among disparately-located devices, the console comprising:

a connection to at least one short messaging network;

a message router/transporter coupled to the connection, the message router/transporter controlling at least some aspects of the routing of short messages between said disparately-located devices; and

a user interface configured for use by a human operator, the user interface permitting a human operator to configure short messaging rights of particular devices.

2. The console of claim 1 further including cryptographic services for encrypting, decrypting and/or setting cryptographic policies concerning short messages transferred between devices.

3. The console of claim 1 further including web services for integration into said short messaging.

4. The console of claim 1 further including gateway services for transferring short messages to different network types.

5. The console of claim 1 further including auditing services for logging short messaging.

6. The console of claim 1 further including operator services for receiving configuration information from at least one operator.

7. The console of claim 1 further including an application programming interface.

8. The console of claim 1 further including a processor configured to check device registration.

9. The console of claim 1 wherein the user interface includes selective PIN disablement.

10. The console of claim 1 wherein the user interface is configured to manage devices as groups.

11. The console of claim 1 wherein the user interface includes at least four of the following commands:

select, register, unregister, get status, reset PIN, locate, wipe data, device lock, device unlock, send message, add contact, remove contact, disable PIN and sync.
