Abstract

A power supply device for a vehicle that is chargeable from an external power supply provided external to the vehicle, including a main battery and a battery pack that is attachable to and detachable from the vehicle. The battery pack includes a sub battery for driving electric loads common to the main battery and the sub battery, and a connector provided with a first storage unit storing information related to the sub battery. The power supply device for the vehicle further includes a control device performing control related to the main battery, and reading the information from the first storage unit and performing control related to the sub battery.

Claims

1. A vehicle, comprising:

a driving device driving said vehicle using electric power;

a control device controlling said driving device;

a first battery supplying electric power to said driving device; and

a battery pack, said battery pack including,

a second battery used in addition to said first battery for supplying electric power to said driving device,

a communication device performing communication with said control device;

said control device activating said driving device using said first and second batteries when communication to said communication device is successfully established while said battery pack is connected to said vehicle, and activating said driving device using said first battery but without using said second battery when communication to said communication device fails while said battery pack is connected to said vehicle.

2. A vehicle, comprising:

a driving device driving said vehicle using electric power;

a control device controlling said driving device;

a first battery supplying electric power to said driving device; and

a battery pack, said battery pack including,

a second battery used in addition to said first battery for supplying electric power to said driving device,

a communication device performing communication with said control device;

said control device allowing said driving device to drive the vehicle when communication to said communication device is successfully established while said battery pack is connected to said vehicle, and prohibiting said driving device to drive the vehicle when communication to said communication device fails while said battery pack is connected to said vehicle.

3. A vehicle, comprising:

a driving device driving said vehicle using electric power;

a control device controlling said driving device;

a first battery supplying electric power to said driving device;

a battery pack; and

a cooling device cooling said first battery and said battery pack;

said battery pack including a second battery used in addition to said first battery for supplying electric power to said driving device,

said control device increasing cooling capability of said cooling device while said battery pack is connected to said vehicle in comparison with cooling capability of said cooling device while said battery pack is not connected to said vehicle.

4. The vehicle according to claim 3, wherein said control device increases cooling capability of said cooling device, by increasing a rotation speed of a cooling fan, while said battery pack is connected to said vehicle in comparison with cooling capability of said cooling device while said battery pack is not connected to said vehicle.

The vehicle according to claim 3, wherein said control device increases cooling capability of said cooling device, by increasing an amount of circulated cooling water, while said battery pack is connected to said vehicle in comparison with cooling capability of said cooling device while said battery pack is not connected to said vehicle.

6. The vehicle according to claim 3, wherein

said battery pack further includes a communication device performing communication with said control device, and

said control device detects that said battery pack is connected to said vehicle based on communication to said communication device.
