Abstract

Methods and systems for social media cooperation, via allowing inter-social network communications between users of different networks is provided. The inter-social network communications may be facilitated by sending inter-social network communications in a format determined by a protocol that is used by the social networks agreeing to allow inter-social network communications.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

retrieving, by a processor system of a machine host system of a first social network, from a memory system of the machine host system, information about one or more features available for interacting with other social networks;

sending from the machine host system to a user system a collection of information including the one or more features available on other social networks, which allows the user to send messages to the second social network, via the first social network;

receiving at the host system an indication that the user selected the one or more features; and

sending from the host system a message to the second social network based on the indication, therein requesting the second social network to determine tasks to perform to implement the one or more features.

2. The method of claim 1, the one or more features including a request to connect to a user at another social network.

3. The method of claim 1, the message having parameter specifying a type for the message, the method further comprising:

determining a value for the type, one value that is allowed for the type being an indication that the communication is a post on a wall.

4. The method of claim 1, the message having parameter specifying a type for the message, the method further comprising:

determining a value for the type, one value that is allowed for the type being an indication that the communication is an inter-social network e-mail.

5. The method of claim 1, the message having parameter specifying a type for the message, the method further comprising:

determining a value for the type, one value that is allowed for the type being an indication that the communication is an inter-social network instant message.

6. The method of claim 1, the message having parameter specifying a type for the message, the method further comprising:

determining a value for the type, one value that is allowed for the type being an indication that the communication is an inter-social network request by a user of the social network to follow a user of another social network.

7. The method of claim 1, the message having parameter specifying a type for the message, the method further comprising:

determining a value for the type, one value that is allowed for the type being an indication that the communication is an inter-social network request by a user of the social network to friend a user of another social network.

8. A method comprising:

receiving a message at a machine host system of a first social network from a second social network, the machine host system including one or more machines having at least a processor system having at least one processor and a memory system storing an application interface conforming to a protocol for inter social network communications; and

sending, by the machine host system, information related to an account of the user to the second social network for a user of the second social network.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

determining whether the second social network is a member of a predetermined group of social networks that agree to accept inter-social network communications from one another

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

determining whether a user of the second social network that sent the message is blocked by the user of the first social network.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

determining whether a wall of a user of the first social network is public; and

if the wall is public, sending information from the wall to the second social network for a user of the second social network.

12. The method of claim 8, further comprising establishing a profile of a user of the second network and storing the profile at the first network.

13. A method comprising:

receiving, at a social network message hub, a message in a first message format from a first user of a first social network;

parsing the message by the social network message hub to identify a recipient social network;

converting the message from the first message format of the first social network into a second message format for the recipient social network; and

sending, by the social network message hub, the message in the second message format to the recipient social network.
