Abstract

A cleansing unit for enhanced sanitation compliance and for eradicating a healthcare facility-hosted opportunistic infections, the unit comprising: a hands-free automatic dispenser of disinfectant agent that dispenses such agent either directly on at least one agitation membrane support post having a condom-like mounted textured sheath or directly on the auscultation portion of the stethoscope, said textured sheath designed to provide a frictional agitation of an auscultation portion of a stethoscope to effectively clean and sanitize the stethoscope, and method thereof.

Claims

1. A cleansing unit for enhanced sanitation compliance, the unit comprising:

a hands-free automatic disinfectant holding chamber, said chamber dispensing a disinfectant agent; and

at least one agitation membrane support post configured for scrubbing of an auscultation portion of a stethoscope.

2. The unit of claim 1, further comprising a catch tray.

3. The unit of claim 1, wherein a condom-like textured sheath is mounted on said at least one agitation membrane support post.

4. The unit of claim 3, wherein said textured sheath is disposable.

5. The unit of claim 1, wherein said disinfectant is directly dispensed on said auscultation portion of said stethoscope.

6. An apparatus for eradicating a healthcare facility-hosted opportunistic infections, the apparatus comprising:

a plurality of a textured sheaths mounted on a plurality of an agitation membrane support posts, said textured sheaths designed to provide a frictional agitation of an auscultation portion of a stethoscope;

a hands-free automatic disinfectant holding chamber of a disinfectant agent, said chamber configured to directly dispense said disinfectant agent on said plurality of an agitation membrane support posts; and

a catch tray designed to collect an excess of said disinfectant.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein said plurality of said agitation membrane support posts are spaced between each other within approximately up to 1 mm.

8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said plurality of said agitation membrane support posts are substantially parallel to each other and to said catch tray.

7-1. A method for eradicating a healthcare facility-hosted opportunistic infections, the method comprising:

providing a hands-free automatic disinfectant holding chamber, wherein said chamber has at least one sensor configured to sense an auscultation portion of a stethoscope coming near said chamber, said auscultation portion of said stethoscope causing said chamber to dispense a disinfectant agent;

providing a plurality of an agitation membrane support posts, wherein a plurality of a textured sheaths are mounted on said plurality of said posts and, wherein said posts are configured to enhanced the overall surface coming into a contact with said auscultation portion of said stethoscope; and

scrubbing said auscultation portion of said stethoscope using said plurality of said textured sheaths.
