Abstract

A channel estimation method and apparatus are provided for a terminal in a cellular mobile communication system including a plurality of base stations. The method includes maintaining a maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE; receiving CSI process report information; determining a number of CSI to be updated based on the maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE; generating at least one CSI report based on the determined number of CSI to be updated; and transmitting the at least one CIS report to an evolved Node B (eNB).

Claims

1. Method for communicating of a User Equipment (UE), in communication system, the method comprising:

maintaining a maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE;

receiving at least one CSI process report associated information;

determining a number of CSI to be updated based on the maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE;

generating at least one CSI based on the determined number of CSI to be updated; and

transmitting the CIS report to an evolved Node B (eNB) based on the generated CSI.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the generating the at least one CIS comprises,

generating the at least one of the CSI corresponding to lowest-indexed CSI processes based on the determined number of CSI to be generated.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

transmitting the maximum number of CSI process supported by the UE.

4. Method for communicating of an evolved Node B (eNB), in communication system, the method comprising:

acquiring a maximum number of CSI processes supported by a User Equipment (UE);

transmitting at least one CSI process report associated information;

determining a number of CSI to be updated based on the maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE; and

receiving at least one CIS report by the UE based on an updated CSI in accordance with the determined number of CSI to be updated.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the receiving the CIS report by the UE comprises,

receiving the CSI report by the UE based on an updated CSI corresponding to lowest-indexed CSI processes based on the determined number of CSI to be updated.

6. The method of claim 4, further comprising:

receiving the maximum number of CSI process supported by the UE.

7. A User Equipment (UE), in communication system, the UE comprising:

a communication unit for communicating with an evolved Node B (eNB);

a control unit for maintaining a maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE, receiving at least one CSI process report associated information, determining a number of CSI to be updated based on the maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE, generating at least one CSI based on the determined number of CSI to be updated, and transmitting the CIS report to an eNB based on the updated CSI.

8. The UE of claim 7, wherein the control unit updates the at least one CSI corresponding to lowest-indexed CSI processes based on the determined number of CSI to be updated.

9. The UE of claim 7, wherein the control unit further transmits the maximum number of CSI process supported by the UE.

10. An evolved Node B (eNB), in communication system, the eNB comprising:

a communication unit for communicating with a User Equipment (UE);

a control unit for acquiring a maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE, transmitting at least one CSI process report associated information, determining a number of CSI to be updated based on the maximum number of CSI processes supported by the UE, and receiving at least one CIS report by the UE based on an updated CSI according to the determined number of CSI to be updated.

11. The eNB of claim 10, wherein a control unit receives the at least one CSI report by the UE based on an updated CSI corresponding to lowest-indexed CSI processes according to the determined number of CSI to be updated.

12. The eNB of claim 10, wherein the control unit further receives the maximum number of CSI process supported by the UE.
