Abstract

Embodiments contemplate methods and systems for determining and communicating channel state information (CSI) for one or more transmission points (or CSI reference signal resources). Embodiments further contemplate determining transmission states may include applying at least one CSI process for channel state information (CSI) reporting. Embodiments also contemplate aperiodic and/or periodic reporting of one or more report types (e.g., rank indicator (RI)) of CSI, perhaps based on one or more reporting modes that may be configured for each of the one or more CSI process.

Claims

1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a processor, the processor configured at least with;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes, the processor configured to at least;

receive an indication in a CSI request field, the indication indicating at least one of the one or more CSI processes;

generate an aperiodic report corresponding to the at least one of the one or more CSI processes; and

send the report via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).

2. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the processor is further configured such that the indication in the CSI request field triggers the generation of the aperiodic report corresponding the at least one of the one or more CSI processes.

The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the indication indicates a first set of the one or more CSI processes, the first set of the one or more CSI processes configured via signaling from one or more logical layers higher than a physical layer of the WTRU, the aperiodic report corresponding to the first set of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured such that the indication in the CSI request field triggers the generation of the report.

The WTRU of claim 3, wherein the indication is a first indication and the aperiodic report is a first aperiodic report, the processor is further configured to receive a second indication in the CSI request field and generate a second aperiodic report, the second indication indicating a second set of the one or more CSI processes, the second set of the one or more CSI processes configured via signaling from the one or more logical layers higher than the physical layer of the WTRU, the second aperiodic report corresponding to the second set of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured such that the second indication in the CSI request field triggers the generation of the second aperiodic report.

The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the one or more CSI processes are configured via signaling from one or more logical layers higher than a physical layer of the WTRU, the processor being further configured to determine a set of the one or more CSI processes which correspond to a serving cell, the aperiodic report corresponding to the set of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured such that the indication in the CSI request field triggers the generation of the aperiodic report.

6. The WTRU of claim 5, wherein the serving cell corresponds to the PUSCH via which the aperiodic report is sent.

23. The WTRU of claim 1, wherein the aperiodic report is determined according to one or more aperiodic report modes configured for each of the one or more CSI processes.

7. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the WTRU in communication with one or more serving cells, the WTRU comprising:

a processor, the processor configured at least with;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes for each the one or more serving cells;

a period for a set of subframes; and

an offset for the set of subframes, the processor configured to;

generate a first periodic report corresponding to a first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a first serving cell of the one or more serving cells; and

send the first periodic report on the set of subframes via a physical channel including at least one of a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) or a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).

8. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein the one or more CSI processes are configured via signaling from one or more logical layers higher than a physical layer of the WTRU.

9. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein at least one of the period or the offset is configured via signaling from one or more logical layers higher than a physical layer of the WTRU.

10. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein the first report corresponds to a first type of one or more report types, and processor is further configured with:

a respective priority for each of the one or more report types;

a respective priority for each of the one or more serving cells; and

a respective priority for each of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured to;

generate a second periodic report corresponding to a second CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a second serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the second periodic report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having a same respective priority as the first report type, the second CSI process having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the first CSI process; and

drop the first periodic report upon a collision between the first periodic report and the second periodic report, based at least on the respective priority of the second CSI process being higher than the respective priority of the first CSI process.

11. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein the first report corresponds to a first type of one or more report types, and processor is further configured with:

a respective priority for each of the one or more report types;

a respective priority for each of the one or more serving cells; and

a respective priority for each of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured to;

generate a second periodic report corresponding to a second CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a second serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the second periodic report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having the same respective priority as the first report type, the second CSI process having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the first CSI process;

generate a third periodic report corresponding to the first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a third serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the third periodic report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having the same respective priority as the first report type; and

drop the first periodic report and the third periodic report upon a collision between either the first periodic report and the second periodic report or between the second periodic report and the third periodic report, based at least on the respective priority of the second CSI process being higher than the respective priority of the first CSI process.

12. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein the first report corresponds to a first type of one or more report types, and processor is further configured with:

a respective priority for each of the one or more report types;

a respective priority for each of the one or more serving cells; and

a respective priority for each of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured to;

generate a second periodic report corresponding to a second CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a second serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the second periodic report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having the same respective priority as the first report type, the second CSI process having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the first CSI process;

generate a third periodic report corresponding to a third CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a third serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the third report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having the same respective priority as the first report type, the second CSI process having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the third CSI process; and

drop the first periodic report and the third periodic report upon a collision between either the first periodic report and the second periodic report or between the second periodic report and the third periodic report, based at least on the respective priority of the second CSI process being higher than the respective priority of the first CSI process or the second CSI process having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the third CSI process.

13. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein the first report corresponds to a first type of one or more report types, and processor is further configured with:

a respective priority for each of the one or more report types;

a respective priority for each of the one or more serving cells; and

a respective priority for each of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured to;

generate a second periodic report corresponding to the first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a second serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the second periodic report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having the same respective priority as the first report type, the second serving cell having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the first serving cell;

drop the first periodic report upon a collision between the first periodic report and the second periodic report, based at least on the respective priority of the second serving cell being higher than the respective priority of the first serving cell.

14. The WTRU of claim 7, wherein the first report corresponds to a first type of one or more report types, and processor is further configured with:

a respective priority for each of the one or more report types;

a respective priority for each of the one or more serving cells; and

a respective priority for each of the one or more CSI processes, and the processor is further configured to;

generate a second periodic report corresponding to the first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a second serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the second periodic report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having the same respective priority as the first report type, the second serving cell having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the first serving cell;

generate a third periodic report corresponding to the first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes and a third serving cell of the one or more serving cells, the third periodic report corresponding to at least one report type of the one or more report types having the same respective priority as the first report type, the second serving cell having a respective priority higher than a respective priority of the third serving cell; and

drop the first periodic report and the third periodic report upon a collision between either the first periodic report and the second periodic report or between the second periodic report and the third periodic report, based at least on the respective priority of the second serving cell being higher than the respective priority of the first serving cell or on the respective priority of the second serving cell being higher than the respective priority of the third serving cell.

15. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a processor, the processor configured at least with;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes; and

a rank indicator (RI) associated with a first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes, the RI configurable to be associated with one or more CSI processes in addition to the first CSI process, the processor configured to at least;

associate the RI with at least a second CSI process; and

report a common RI value, the common RI value being the RI associated with the first CSI process and the at least second CSI process.

16. The WTRU of claim 15, wherein the processor is further configured to associate the RI with at least a third CSI process, and the common RI value being the RI associated with the first CSI process, the at least second CSI, and the at least third CSI.

17. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the WTRU comprising:

a processor, the processor configured at least with;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes; and

one or more types of feedback reports corresponding to the one or more CSI processes, the processor configured to;

generate a first periodic report corresponding to a first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes, the first periodic report corresponding to a rank indicator (RI) report type of the one or more report types;

generate a second periodic report corresponding to a second CSI process of the one or more CSI processes, the second periodic report corresponding to the RI report type of the one or more report types; and

drop one of the first periodic report or the second periodic report upon a collision between the first periodic report and the second periodic report, the first periodic report and the second periodic report including an RI value applicable to both the first periodic report and the second periodic report.

18. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a processor, the processor configured at least with;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes, the processor configured to at least;

assume at least one of;

a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission power for each of the one or more CSI processes, or a different ratio of PDSCH energy per resource element (EPRE) to CSI EPRE for each of the one or more CSI processes.

19. An evolved node-B (eNB), the eNB in communication with a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the eNB comprising:

a processor, the processor configured to at least;

provide a configuration to the WTRU, the configuration including at least;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes; and

a CSI request field, an indication associated with the CSI request field indicating at least one of the one or more CSI processes; and

receive an aperiodic report corresponding to at least one of the one or more CSI processes from the WTRU via a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH).

20. An evolved node-B (eNB) in communication with a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the WTRU in communication with one or more serving cells, the eNB comprising:

a processor, the processor configured to at least;

provide the WTRU with a configuration, the configuration including at least;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes for each of the one or more serving cells;

a period for a set of subframes; and

an offset for the set of subframes; and

receive a periodic report corresponding to at least one of the one or more CSI processes on the set of subframes from the WTRU via a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH).

21. The eNB of claim 20, wherein the processor is further configured such that the configuration further includes:

a respective priority for each of one or more report types;

a respective priority for each of the one or more serving cells; and

a respective priority for each of the one or more CSI processes.

22. An evolved node-B (eNB) in communication with a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the eNB comprising:

a processor, the processor configured to at least;

provide the WTRU with a configuration including at least;

one or more channel state information (CSI) processes; and

a rank indicator (RI) associated with a first CSI process of the one or more CSI processes, the RI configurable to be associated with one or more CSI processes in addition to the first CSI process; and

receive a report including a common RI value from the WTRU, the common RI value being the RI associated with a first CSI process and at least a second CSI process.
