Abstract

A wireless hybrid time division multiple access/code division multiple access (TDMA/CDMA) user equipment (UE) includes a signaling receiver and a data detection device in communication with the signaling receiver. The signaling receiver is configured to receive and recover signaled information of code and timeslot assignments of the UE to suport an RF communication. The data detection device is configured to recover from the signaling information an identifier of a plurality of assigned timeslots and an indication of a first and last code of a set of consecutive codes. The last code is identified by an identifier associated with the last code.

Claims

1. A wireless hybrid time division multiple access/code division multiple access (TDMA/CDMA) system including a base station and a user equipment (UE):

the base station comprising;

a selector configured to select at least one timeslot from a predetermined sequence of timeslots, and to select consecutive codes from the predetermined sequence of codes for the at least one selected timeslot; and

a signaler configured to signal an identifier of the at least one selected timeslot and a first and last code of the selected consecutive codes over a control channel; and

the UE comprising;

a signaling receiver configured to receive the signaled information of code and timeslot assignments for use by the UE to support a radio frequency (RF) communication; and

a data detection device in communication with the signaling receiver, the data detection device configured to recover from the signaled information the indication of the timeslots assigned for use and the indication of the first code and the last code of the selected consecutive codes; and

wherein the at least one selected timeslot and the selected consecutive codes are used to support the communication.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the supported communication is a downlink communication.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the supported communication is an uplink communication transmitted from the UE.

4. An integrated circuit (IC) implemented in a wireless hybrid time division multiple access/code division multiple access (TDMA/CDMA) device, the IC comprising:

circuitry configured to select at least one timeslot from a predetermined sequence of timeslots;

circuitry configured to select consecutive codes from the predetermined sequence of codes for the at least one selected timeslot;

circuitry configured to output an identifier of the at least one selected timeslot and a first and last code of the selected consecutive codes for transmission over a control channel for transmission to a user equipment (UE), and

wherein the at least one selected timeslot and the selected consecutive codes are used to support the communication.

5. The IC of claim 4 wherein the supported communication is a downlink communication.

6. The IC of claim 4 wherein the supported communication is an uplink communication transmitted from the UE.

7. An integrated circuit (IC) implemented in a wireless hybrid time division multiple access/code division multiple access (TDMA/CDMA) user equipment (UE), the IC comprising:

circuitry configured to receive signaled information of code and timeslot assignments for use by the UE to support a radio frequency (RF) communication; and

circuitry configured to recover from the signaled information an indication of the timeslots assigned for use and an indication of a first code and a last code of a set of selected consecutive codes; and

wherein the at least one selected timeslot and the selected consecutive codes are used to support the communication.

8. The IC of claim 7 wherein the supported communication is a downlink communication.

9. The IC of claim 7 wherein the supported communication is an uplink communication for transmission from the UE.
