Abstract

A method of video operations includes generating derivative byproducts related to encoded video captured of a scene, initializing a first operation based on the encoded video, and initializing a second operation different from the first operation based on the derivative byproducts.

Claims

1. A computerized method of facilitating video operations comprising:

initiating an encoding operation to encode video captured of a scene from a video capture device, resulting in encoded video;

initiating a derivative operation to generate derivative byproducts based on byproducts of the encoding operation; and

initiating a supplemental operation, supplemental to a primary operation that involves the encoded video, based on at least a portion of the derivative byproducts.

2. The computerized method of claim 1, wherein the primary operation includes any of displaying, streaming or storing the encoded video.

3. The computerized method of claim 1, wherein the supplemental operation includes any of highlighting specific portions of the encoded video, setting an alert or changing a position of the video capture device.

4. The computerized method of claim 1, wherein the supplemental operation includes generating an indication that a state of motion detection capability has changed and creating a time stamp for the generated indication.

5. The computerized method of claim 4, wherein the indication that a state of the motion detection capability has changed includes that the state of the motion detection capability has changed to an OFF state.

6. The computerized method of claim 4, wherein the indication that a state of the motion detection capability has changed includes that the state of the motion detection capability has changed to an ON state.

7. The computerized method of claim 1, wherein the byproducts of the encoding operation includes any of a movement of objects in the scene, a signal-to-noise ratio of the encoded video, or a quantity of high-frequency coefficients in the encoded video.

8. The computerized method of claim 1, wherein the generated derivative byproducts are modified versions of the byproducts of the encoding operation.

9. The computerized method of claim 1, wherein the generated derivative byproducts include any of added byproducts including a time stamp or an alert requirement.

10. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instruction stored thereon for facilitating video operation, wherein the instructions, when executed by the processing system, direct the processing system to:

initiate an encoding operation to encode video captured of a scene from a video capture device, resulting in encoded video;

initiate a derivative operation to generate derivative byproducts based on byproducts of the encoding operation; and

initiate a supplemental operation, supplemental to a primary operation that involves the encoded video, based on at least a portion of the derivative byproducts.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10, wherein the primary operation includes any of displaying, streaming or storing the encoded video.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10, wherein the supplemental operation includes any of highlighting specific portions of the encoded video, setting an alert or changing a position of the video capture device.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 10, wherein the supplemental operation includes generating an indication that a state of motion detection capability has changed and creating a time stamp for the generated indication.

14. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13, wherein the indication that a state of the motion detection capability has changed includes that the state of the motion detection capability has changed to OFF.

15. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 13, wherein the indication that a state of the motion detection capability has changed includes that the state of the motion detection capability has changed to ON.

16. The computerized method of claim 10, wherein the byproducts of the encoding operation includes any of a movement of objects in the scene, a signal-to-noise ratio of the encoded video, or a quantity of high-frequency coefficients in the encoded video.

17. The computerized method of claim 10, wherein the generated derivative byproducts are modified versions of the byproducts of the encoding operation.

18. The computerized method of claim 10, wherein the generated derivative byproducts include any of added byproducts including a time stamp or an alert requirement.

19. A computerized method of generating video byproducts comprising:

defining a plurality of macroblocks, wherein the plurality of macroblocks overlay it scene to be reported;

recording a plurality of images of the scene;

comparing motion of an object between a plurality of images by comparing a change in position of a macroblock that overlays the object;

recording the motion as a byproduct by recording a number of pixels of change in position of the macroblock; and

measuring a magnitude of the change in position of the macroblock.
