Abstract

A method comprising of receiving, by a user system that includes at least a processor system having at least one processor and a memory system, a first push notification associated with a first priority level for display on the user system; receiving, by the user system, a second push notification associated with a second priority level for display on the user system, the second priority level being higher than the first priority level; and displaying, by the user system, the second push notification prior to the first push notification based on the first and second priority level.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a user system that includes at least a processor system having at least one processor and a memory system, a first push notification associated with a first priority level for display on the user system, the first push notification being a notification message that is pushed from a server through a push service provider to a client terminal, where a message that is pushed is a message that is of a type that the user has indicated to a publisher that the user would like to receive, but that is received at the user system without the user system sending a request to the publisher for this specific message;

receiving, by the user system, a second push notification associated with a second priority level for display on the user system, the second priority level being higher than the first priority level; and

displaying, by the user system, the second push notification prior to the first push notification based on the first and second priority level.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the user system is a mobile device, a desktop computer, or laptop computer.

3. The method of claim 1, the receiving of second push notification including receiving metadata having a display setting, and the displaying of the second push notification being based on the display setting.

4. The method of claim 3, the metadata including an acknowledgment setting, and the displaying of the second push notification being according to the acknowledgment setting, where the displaying of the second push notification includes at least continuing to display the second push notification until receiving an input from a user acknowledging the second push notification.

5. The method of claim 4, the method further comprising:

sending a message to a publisher system notifying the publisher that the user has acknowledged the second push notification, the publisher system being a server from which the second push notification is initiated.

6. The method of claim 1, the method further comprising:

sending a message to a push service provider after receiving the first push notification, confirming that the first push notification was received at the user system.

7. A method comprising:

creating, by a publisher system that includes at least a processor system having at least one processor and a memory system, a first push notification associated with a first priority level, the publisher system being a system from which a push notification is initiated, at push notification being a message that is pushed from the publisher through a push service provider to a user system, the push notification provider being a system that transmits push notifications from the publisher to the user system, where a message that is pushed is a message that is of a type that the user has indicated that the user would like to receive, but that is sent without receiving a request from the user for this specific message;

sending, by the publisher system, the first push notification to the push service provider with the first priority level, the push notification provider being a server that transmits push notifications from the publisher to a client terminal;

creating, by the publisher system, a second push notification associated with a second priority level, the second priority level being higher than the first priority level; and

sending, by the publisher system, the second push notification to the push service provider with the second priority level.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the priority level of the push notification depends on content of the push notification.

9. The method of claim 7, the method further comprising:

sending default display settings and default acknowledgment settings to a user system.

10. The method of claim 7, the method further comprising:

receiving user settings from the user system, the user settings being used for delivery instruction.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the user settings includes a user system'"'"'s address, identifiers of the applications on the user system, a user subscription level, and a user system'"'"'s device type.

12. The method of claim 7, wherein the first push notification includes a metadata having a display setting and an acknowledgment setting.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the display setting and the acknowledgment setting depend on the first priority level.

14. A method comprising:

receiving, by a push service provider that includes at least a processor system having at least one processor and a memory system, a first push notification associated with a first priority level, the push service provider being a server that transmits push notifications from the publisher to a client terminal, the first push notification being a notification message that is pushed from a server through the push service provider to a client terminal, where a message that is pushed is a message that is of a type that a recipient has indicated that the recipient would like to receive, but that is sent without receiving a request from the recipient for this specific message;

sending, by the push service provider, the first push notification to a user system with the first priority level;

receiving, by the push service provider, a second push notification associated with a second priority level, the second priority level being higher than the first priority level; and

sending, by the push service provider, the second push notification with the second priority level to the user system.

15. The method of claim 14, the method further comprising:

sending a message to a publisher system after receiving the first push notification, confirming that the first push notification was received at the push service provider, the publisher system being a server from which the first push notification is initiated.

16. The method of claim 14, the method further comprising:

resending the first push notification to the user system after a pre-determined time if a message was not received from the user system within the pre-determined time.

17. The method of claim 16, the method further comprising:

continuing to resend the first push notification until the message has been received from the user system.

18. The method of claim 16, the method further comprising:

continuing to resend the second push notification until a pre-determined number of attempts have been reached.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the pre-determined number of attempts depends on the first priority level.
