1. A computer-implemented method for communicating information comprising:
- receiving in an information recipient database characteristics information about a visitor to a web site at a pre-determined first time, wherein the characteristics information comprises a combination of at least one directly measured physiological state characteristic and at least one non-physiological state characteristic about the visitor, and wherein the directly measured physiological state characteristic is measurable while the visitor is visiting the web site by at least one sensor positioned near or on the visitor;
selecting from a plurality of information elements at least one information element based on the received directly measured physiological state and non-physiological state characteristics information;
providing the at least one information element, for display on the web site at a second time different than the first time.

Abstract
A system and method for effectively communicating information using at least one mode of communication is described, in which information recipients proximate to a communications device within a pre-determined space and during a pre-determined time period are identified, from whom physiological state information is obtained that, when coupled with other characteristics information, is used to select from a plurality of information elements at least one information element to better target the information elements. The information element is then provided to the communications device so that it may be provided to the information recipients in the pre-determined space in a manner that is sensed by the information recipients.

a plurality of fixed biometric sensors at or near a pre-determined location for directly measuring at least one physiological state characteristic of one or more information recipients when the one or more information recipients are physically present at the pre-determined location; an information recipient profile database comprising information about the directly measured physiological state characteristic and information about at least one non-physiological state characteristic associated with the one or more information recipients; and an information content generator for providing to a communications device a plurality of information elements selectable by an information agent based on the physiological state characteristic and non-physiological state characteristics. - View Dependent Claims (20, 21)

a portable computing device adapted to being positioned near or on an information recipient comprising; a sensor component for real-time sensing of a physiological state at a first time; a communications component for outputting content at a second time different than the first time; and a location component for determining the location of the portable computing device; an information recipient profile database comprising non-physiological information concerning a plurality of information recipients; and an information content generator remote from the portable computing device for generating the content, wherein the generated content comprises at least one information element selectable from a set of pre-determined information elements, and wherein the selectable at least one information element is selectable based on the received physiological state information and the non-physiological information about the information recipient when the portable computing device is present in or near a pre-determined space or area. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32)
