Abstract

The systems and methods described herein relate to a system for documenting transactions. A filter is provided that captures content associated with transactions. The filter may be configured to start and stop the capture at predetermined times, and may be further configured to specify what content is to be captured during a transaction. The system may store any documents or data associated with a transaction, including dynamic content and user selections and inputs. A document repository may be provided for storing unstructured data representing data, text, forms, and so forth presented to a party during a transaction. A viewer may be provided for displaying data stored in the document repository.

Claims

1. A transaction management system, comprising:

a transaction host server having a processor and a memory storing computer instructions executable by the processor to engage in electronic commerce on a network;

a user interface for customizing one or more filters;

a filter configured, under control of the user interface, for capturing data associated with an electronic commerce transaction hosted by the transaction host server, the filter including one or more triggers to control activation and deactivation of the capturing, the filter residing between the transaction host server and a client participating in the electronic commerce transaction, wherein the data associated with the electronic commerce transaction comprises content presented to the client and user input from the client; and

a repository accessible by the filter for storing the data captured by the filter, including first objects associated with web pages requested by the client as part of the electronic commerce transaction and second objects referenced by the first objects.

2. The transaction management system of claim 1, wherein the filter and the client are part of a client system communicatively connected to the transaction host server.

3. The transaction management system of claim 1, wherein the filter resides on a server computer communicatively connected to the client and the transaction host server.

4. The transaction management system of claim 1, wherein the filter is accessible by the client over a network connection.

5. The transaction management system of claim 1, wherein the content presented to the client comprises static content, dynamic content, database query results, external content presented within a page, or a combination thereof.

The transaction management system of claim 1, wherein the user input from the client comprises requests by the client for the web pages, user activation of controls within a page, text box entries, user navigation through hyperlinks, any files uploaded by the client, any file downloaded by the client, or a combination thereof.

7. The transaction management system of claim 1, wherein the filter captures the data associated with the electronic commerce transaction over multiple sessions.

8. A method of transaction management, comprising:

configuring a filter under control of a user interface, the filter embodied on a non-transitory computer readable medium and residing between a transaction host server and a client participating in an electronic commerce transaction hosted by the transaction host server on a network, the filter including one or more triggers to control activation and deactivation of a transaction capture;

in response to a triggering event, the filter capturing data associated with the electronic commerce transaction hosted by the transaction host server, wherein the data associated with the electronic commerce transaction comprises content presented to the client and user input from the client;

storing, in a repository by the filter, the data captured by the filter, the data including first objects associated with web pages requested by the client as part of the electronic commerce transaction and second objects referenced by the first objects; and

storing, in the repository by the filter, additional unstructured data associated with the electronic commerce transaction in the repository.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein the unstructured data associated with the electronic commerce transaction comprises a facsimile, an electronic mail, a scanned document or a combination thereof.

10. The method according to claim 8, wherein the content presented to the client comprises static content, dynamic content, database query results, external content presented within a page, or a combination thereof.

The method according to claim 8, wherein the user input from the client comprises requests by the client for the web pages, user activation of controls within a page, text box entries, user navigation through hyperlinks, any files uploaded by the client, any file downloaded by the client, or a combination thereof.

12. The method according to claim 8, wherein the filter captures the data associated with the electronic commerce transaction over multiple sessions.

13. The method according to claim 8, further comprising:

presenting all the data and the unstructured data associated with the electronic commerce transaction to a user in a sequential order.

14. A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer readable medium storing computer instructions translatable by a processor to perform:

configuring a filter under control of a user interface, the filter residing between a transaction host server and a client participating in an electronic commerce transaction hosted by the transaction host server on a network, the filter including one or more triggers to control activation and deactivation of a transaction capture;

in response to a triggering event, causing the filter to capture data associated with the electronic commerce transaction hosted by the transaction host server, wherein the data associated with the electronic commerce transaction comprises content presented to the client and user input from the client;

storing, in a repository by the filter, the data captured by the filter, the data including first objects associated with web pages requested by the client as part of the electronic commerce transaction and second objects referenced by the first objects; and

storing, in the repository by the filter, additional unstructured data associated with the electronic commerce transaction in the repository.

15. The computer program product of claim 14, wherein the unstructured data associated with the electronic commerce transaction comprises a facsimile, an electronic mail, a scanned document or a combination thereof.

16. The computer program product of claim 14, wherein the content presented to the client comprises static content, dynamic content, database query results, external content presented within a page, or a combination thereof.

17. The computer program product of claim 14, wherein the user input from the client comprises requests by the client for the web pages, user activation of controls within a page, text box entries, user navigation through hyperlinks, any files uploaded by the client, any file downloaded by the client, or a combination thereof.

18. The computer program product of claim 14, wherein the filter captures the data associated with the electronic commerce transaction over multiple sessions.

19. The computer program product of claim 14, further comprising computer instructions translatable by the processor to perform:

presenting all the data and the unstructured data associated with the electronic commerce transaction to a user in a sequential order.

20. The computer program product of claim 14, wherein the filter is local or remote to the client.
