Abstract

An improved method for providing checkpoint background checks is described herein. In one embodiment, the pass control method can comprise collecting data related to the identity of a visitor with a checkpoint computer, transferring the data to a pass control server, querying one or more member profiles using the data, and returning a message to the checkpoint computer. In this method, the member profiles can comprise identity information and one or more flags. The flags can be related to an outcome of a previously performed background check performed using the identity information. The message returned to the checkpoint computer can be related to the flags within any of the member profiles comprising identity information that matches the data.

Claims

1. A pass control method comprising

collecting data related to the identity of a visitor with a checkpoint computer;

transferring said data to a pass control server;

querying one or more member profiles using said data, each of said member profiles comprising identity information and one or more flags, said flags related to an outcome of a previously performed background check performed using said identity information; and

returning a message to said checkpoint computer related to said flags within any of said member profiles that comprises said identity information that matches said data.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step validating a pass into a facility based on said flags sent to said local checkpoint computer.

3. The method of claim 2 wherein said facility is a military installation.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein said data collected is entered by keying-in said data on said checkpoint computer

5. The method of claim 1 wherein said data is collected from an identification card using a card reader.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein said previously performed background check, determines one or more matching query results from one or more public record databases and said identity information.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein said identity information comprises information from a driver'"'"'s license.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein said identity information comprises information from a social security card.

9. The method of claim 6 wherein said identity information comprises information from a passport.

10. The method of claim 6 wherein said identity card information comprises information from a military identification card.

11. The method of claim 6 wherein said public record databases comprises the National Criminal Information Center database.

12. The method of claim 6 wherein said public record databases comprises the Criminal Justice Information Services database.

13. The method of claim 6 wherein said public record databases comprise state warrant databases and local warrant databases.

14. The method of claim 1 wherein said outcome are said matching query results from a military citation record server and said identity information.

15. The method of claim 14 wherein said military citation record server comprises a military citation and driving record information.

16. The method of claim 1 wherein said background check comprises checking for outstanding warrants.

17. The method of claim 1 wherein said background check comprises checking for known terrorists and suspected terrorists.

18. The method of claim 1 wherein said background check comprises checking for suspensions and cancellations of installation driving privileges.

21. A computer readable storage medium having a computer readable program code embodied therein, wherein the computer readable program code is adapted to be executed to implement the method of claim 1.

19. A pass control method comprising

creating one or more member profiles in a pass control memory on a pass control server, said member profile comprising identity information;

performing a first background check using at least a portion of said identity information;

creating one or more flags in said member profile that comprises said identity information related to the outcome of said first background check.

20. The method of claim 19 further comprising

performing a second background check after a period of time;

and

updating said one or more flags based on the result of said second background check
