a graphical user interface (GUI) configured to use the commissioning system, the decommissioning system, or a combination thereof, to operatively couple the field device to the control system, operatively uncouple the field device to the control system, or a combination thereof, by using a plurality of field device states, wherein a linking device is configured to communicatively couple the field device to the control system.
