Abstract

One embodiment involves receiving, by a web page authoring tool, presentation information in a markup language corresponding to a static graphical object. In this embodiment, the web page authoring tool receives animation information in a data interchange format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object. In this embodiment, the web page authoring tool receives a runtime engine. In this embodiment, the web page authoring tool stores the presentation information, the animation information, and the runtime engine within a web page. The runtime engine may be configured to cause a web browser displaying the web page to render an animation. The animation can be based at least in part on the presentation information and the animation information.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving, by a web page authoring tool, presentation information in a markup language corresponding to a static graphical object;

receiving, by the web page authoring tool, animation information in a data interchange format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object, the animation information separate from the presentation information;

receiving, by the web page authoring tool, a runtime engine; and

storing, by the web page authoring tool, the presentation information, the animation information, and the runtime engine within a web page,

wherein the runtime engine is configured to cause a web browser displaying the web page to render an animation, the animation based at least in part on the presentation information and the animation information.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the animation information comprises a frame rate and wherein the animation is based on the frame rate.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the animation information within the web page is human-readable and user-editable.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the presentation information comprises a path for the static graphical object and wherein the adjustment for the static graphical object comprises a timing for the static graphical object to move along the path.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the markup language comprises a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) corresponding to the static graphical object and wherein the data interchange format comprises a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object.

6. A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising:

program code for receiving, by a web page authoring tool, presentation information in a markup language corresponding to a static graphical object;

program code for receiving, by the web page authoring tool, animation information in a data interchange format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object, the animation information separate from the presentation information;

program code for receiving, by the web page authoring tool, a runtime engine; and

program code for storing, by the web page authoring tool, the presentation information, the animation information, and the runtime engine within a web page,

wherein the runtime engine is configured to cause a web browser displaying the web page to render an animation, the animation based at least in part on the presentation information and the animation information.

7. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 6, wherein program code for receiving, by a web page authoring tool, presentation information in a markup language corresponding to a static graphical object comprises:

program code for receiving, by the web page authoring tool, an image in a first format; and

program code for converting, by the web page authoring tool, the first image into a second format, the second format comprising the markup language, the second format different than the first format.

8. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 7, wherein program code for receiving, by the web page authoring tool, animation information in a data interchange format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object comprises:

program code for receiving, by the web page authoring tool, an event associated with the image, the event configured to cause the adjustment for the image; and

program code for converting, by the web page authoring tool, the event into the data interchange format.

9. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 6,

wherein the markup language comprises a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) corresponding to the static graphical object,

wherein the data interchange format comprises a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object, and

wherein the animation information within the web page is human-readable and user-editable.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 6, wherein program code for storing, by the web page authoring tool, the presentation information, the animation information, and the runtime engine within a web page comprises:

program code for storing first source code corresponding to the presentation information within the web page;

program code for storing second source code corresponding to the animation information within the web page; and

program code for storing third source code corresponding to a location of the runtime engine within the web page,

wherein the runtime engine comprises program code configured to function with at least a first web browser type and a second web browser type different from the first web browser type.

11. A system comprising:

an input device;

a memory; and

a processor in communication with the input device and the memory, the processor configured for;

receiving, by a web page authoring tool, presentation information in a markup language corresponding to a static graphical object;

receiving, by the web page authoring tool, animation information in a data interchange format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object, the animation information separate from the presentation information;

receiving, by the web page authoring tool, a runtime engine; and

storing, by the web page authoring tool, the presentation information, the animation information, and the runtime engine within a web page,

wherein the runtime engine is configured to cause a web browser displaying the web page to render an animation, the animation based at least in part on the presentation information and the animation information.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the animation information within the web page is human-readable and user-editable within the web page authoring tool.

13. The system of claim 11, wherein the markup language comprises a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) corresponding to the static graphical object.

14. The system of claim 11, wherein the data interchange format comprises a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object.

15. The system of claim 11, wherein the adjustment comprises a movement of the static graphical object at a particular time.

16. A method comprising:

receiving, by a web browser, presentation information in a markup language corresponding to a static graphical object;

receiving, by the web browser, animation information in a data interchange format corresponding to an adjustment for the static graphical object, the animation information separate from the presentation information;

receiving, by the web browser, a runtime engine configured to cause the web browser to render an animation based at least in part on the presentation information and the animation information; and

rendering, by the web browser, the animation.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the adjustment comprises at least one of a movement of the static graphical object or a time for the static graphical object to be displayed.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the markup language comprises Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).

19. The method of claim 16, wherein the data interchange format comprises JavaScript Object Notation (JSON).

20. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

receiving, by the web browser, a web page,

wherein the web page comprises the presentation information and the animation information, and

wherein the web page references a location corresponding to the runtime engine.
