Abstract

Systems and techniques for configuring an Automated External Defibrillators are described herein.

Claims

1. A method for configuring an automated external defibrillator, the method comprising

initiating, by the automated external defibrillator, a request for available protocols, by sending, from the automated external defibrillator, to a remote database that includes records associated with automated external defibrillator protocols used to configure automated external defibrillators, the request for the available protocols for configuring the automated external defibrillator;

receiving information about one or more available protocols;

initiating, by the automated external defibrillator, a request to download an available protocol, by sending, from the automated external defibrillator, to the remote database, the request to download the available protocol; and

receiving, from the remote database, configuration information to automatically configure the automated external defibrillator based on the selected available protocol.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

subsequent to receiving the information about the one or more protocols, sending a request to filter the one or more available protocols; and

receiving, from the remote database, a filtered set of available protocols.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the request for available protocols comprises a request for protocols having privacy settings indicating that the protocol is available for download by the automated external defibrillator.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the privacy settings are based at least in part on ownership of the automated external defibrillator.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising automatically configuring the automated external defibrillator based on the received configurations.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the configurations conform to a published treatment guideline.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the configurations include a language setting, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation rate setting, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation depth setting, a shock voltage, and a shock wave form.

24. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, from the remote database, new configuration information if changes are made to the selected available protocol.

25. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

receiving, from the remote database, new configuration information if the published treatment guideline is updated.

8. A method, comprising:

receiving configuration information associated with an automated external defibrillator protocol from a first automated external defibrillator;

storing the protocol and the associated configuration information in an automated external defibrillator protocol database; and

downloading the protocol and configuration information to a second automated external defibrillator that is different from the first automated external defibrillator.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

receiving a request for available protocols available for configuring the automated external defibrillator;

sending information about one or more protocols to the automated external defibrillator; and

receiving a request to download a particular one of the available protocols.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

subsequent to sending the information about the one or more protocols, receiving a request to filter the one or more available protocols; and

sending, to the automated external defibrillator, a filtered set of available protocols.

11. The method of claim 8, wherein the configurations include a language setting, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation rate setting, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation depth setting, a shock voltage, and a shock wave form.

12. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

receiving one or more modifications to one or more configurations of the protocol; and

storing a new protocol comprising the modified protocol in the protocol database.

13. A system, comprising:

a protocol database stored in a memory, the protocol database including multiple protocol records each of which includes multiple configurations for an automated external defibrillator; and

a computing device configured to;

receive configuration information associated with an automated external defibrillator protocol from a first automated external defibrillator;

store the protocol and the associated configuration information in the protocol database; and

download the protocol to a second automated external defibrillator that is different from the first automated external defibrillator.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the computing device is further configured to receive a request to download the protocol from a second automated external defibrillator.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the computing device is further configured to:

receive, from the second automated external defibrillator, a request for available protocols available for configuring the automated external defibrillator;

send information about one or more protocols to the second automated external defibrillator; and

receive, from the second automated external defibrillator, a request to download a particular one of the available protocols.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the computing device is further configured to:

subsequent to sending the information about the one or more protocols, receive a request to filter the one or more available protocols; and

send, to the second automated external defibrillator, a filtered set of available protocols.

17. The system of claim 13, wherein the configurations include a language setting, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation rate setting, a cardiopulmonary resuscitation depth setting, a shock voltage, and a shock wave form.

18. The system of claim 13, wherein the computing device is further configured to:

receive one or more modifications to one or more configurations of the protocol; and

store a new protocol comprising the modified protocol in the protocol database.

19. A defibrillator comprising:

a memory configured to store a protocol comprising multiple configurations;

a computing device configured to;

initiate, by the defibrillator, a request for available protocols, by sending, from the defibrillator, to a remote database that includes records associated with automated external defibrillator protocols, the request for the available protocols for configuring the automated external defibrillator;

receive information about one or more available protocols;

initiate, by the defibrillator, a request to download an available protocol, by sending, from the defibrillator, to the remote database, the request to download the available protocol;

receive from the remote database, configuration information to automatically configure the automated external defibrillator based on the selected available protocol;

store the received protocol in the memory; and

configure the automated external defibrillator to operate according to the protocol stored in the memory.

20. The defibrillator of claim 19, wherein the computing device is further configured to:

subsequent to receiving the information about the one or more protocols, send a request to filter the one or more available protocols; and

receive, from the remote database, a filtered set of available protocols.

21. The defibrillator of claim 19, wherein the request for available protocols comprises a request for protocols having privacy settings indicating that the protocol is available for download by the automated external defibrillator.

22. The defibrillator of claim 21, wherein the privacy settings are based at least in part on ownership of the automated external defibrillator.

23. The defibrillator of claim 19, wherein the computing device is further configured to automatically configure the automated external defibrillator based on the received configurations.
