a first folded portion connecting the first anchoring portion to the first end of the suburethral support portion;
a second anchoring portion that is substantially arrow-head shaped, has an aperture, and includes a plurality of barbs; and
a second folded portion connecting the second anchoring portion to the second end of the suburethral support portion.

A method for assembling a urinary incontinence device that provides support to a urethra of a patient, the device having a suburethral support portion, first and second anchoring portions, and first and second folded portions connecting the respective first and second anchoring portions to the support portion, the method comprising:

forming the support portion of mesh material, the support portion having a first end, a second end; aligning the first anchoring portion with the first end of the support portion and the second anchoring portion with the second end of the support portion, the first anchoring portion including a tip, a base, a first face, a second face and a plurality of barbs adapted for tissue anchoring and having an aperture extending from the first face to the second face of the first anchoring portion and the second anchoring portion including a tip, a base, a first face, a second face and a plurality of barbs adapted for tissue anchoring and having an aperture extending from the first face to the second face of the second anchoring portion; creating a first folded portion between the suburethral support portion and the first anchoring portion to couple the first anchoring portion to the first end of the suburethral support portion and the second folded portion between the suburethral support portion and the second anchoring portion to couple the second anchoring portion to the second end of the suburethral support portion; and securing the first folded portion in a closed position to maintain attachment of the first anchoring portion to the first end of the suburethral support portion and securing the second folded portion in a closed position to maintain attachment of the second anchoring portion to the second end of the suburethral support portion. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
