LIGHTING CONTROL SYSTEM AND LIGHTING CONTROL METHOD
First Claim
1. A lighting control system comprising:
- a detecting unit configured to detect a presence of a person in each of a plurality of detection areas of a lighting space;
a plurality of luminaires provided for each of the detection areas of the lighting space; and
a control unit configured to control the luminaires in accordance with detection of persons in four of the detection areas of the lighting space arranged in a two-by-two grid, as detected by the detecting unit, such that if the presence of a person is detected in one detection area, brightness of the luminaires of the remaining three detection areas is reduced relative to brightness of the luminaires of the one detection area, and if the presence of persons is detected in two detection areas, brightness of the luminaires that are of the remaining detection areas and arranged to light a portion of the remaining detection areas that is adjacent to the two detection areas, is reduced relative to brightness of the luminaires of the two detection areas, while the remaining luminaires of the remaining detection areas are turned off, and, if the presence of persons is detected in three detection areas, the luminaires of the remaining detection area are turned off.

Abstract
According to one embodiment, a lighting control unit turns on luminaires corresponding to a presence area among four detection areas adjacent to one another in a predetermined direction and a crossing direction. If there is one presence area among the four detection areas, the lighting control unit relatively reduces the brightness of the luminaires corresponding to remaining three absence areas. If there are two presence areas among the four detection areas, the lighting control unit relatively reduces the brightness of the luminaires on a side adjacent to the presence areas among the luminaires corresponding to the remaining two absence areas and turns off the remaining other luminaires. If there are three presence areas among the four detection areas, the lighting control unit turns off the luminaires corresponding to the remaining one absence area.

9. A method of controlling luminaires provided to light areas that are arranged in a two-by-two grid comprising:
-
detecting whether a person is present or not in each of the areas; fully turning on a luminaire provided for an area if the presence of a person is detected in the area; partially turning on a luminaire provided for an area, if the presence of a person is detected in only one of the other three areas, or if the presence of a person is detected in only two of the other three areas and the luminaire is provided to light a region that is adjacent to the two of the other three areas; and not turning on a luminaire provided for an area, if the presence of a person is detected in all three of the other areas; or if the presence of a person is detected in only two of the other three areas and the luminaire is provided to light a region that is not adjacent to the two of the other three areas. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11)
