1. A system comprising:

  • a transmitter device configured to generate a wake-up signal, wherein the wake-up signal comprises a series of pulses having a pulse pattern encoding a predetermined wake-up code, wherein the transmitter device is configured to apply the wake-up signal to at least one first electrode, and wherein the transmitter device comprises a first implantable medical device; and

    a receiver device comprising an energy source, at least one circuit element, and at least one second electrode, wherein the receiver device is configured to receive the wake-up signal and process the wake-up signal to extract the predetermined wake-up code, and wherein the receiver device comprises a second implantable medical device;

    wherein the receiver device is further configured to selectively switch the at least one circuit element between a sleep state in which the at least one circuit element utilizes a lower amount of power from the energy source and an operational state in which the at least one circuit element utilizes a higher amount of power from the energy source;

    wherein the receiver device is configured to determine whether the predetermined wake-up code extracted from the received wake-up signal corresponds to a stored wake-up value, and wherein, in response to determining that the predetermined wake-up code corresponds to the stored wake-up value, the receiver device is configured to switch the at least one circuit element from the sleep state into the operational state; and

    wherein the transmitter device is configured to transmit the wake-up signal to the receiver device via intracorporeal communication of electrical pulses conducted by interstitial tissues of a patient'"'"'s body.
