System And Method For Communication Of An Event Through A Call For Media
First Claim
1. A computer implemented communication method stored on a server and accessible over a network, comprising:
- providing access to a call for media database implemented on the server including at least one call for media record;
enabling a requesting user to create a call for media that is associated with the at least one call for media record;
sending out the call for media associated with the at least one call for media record;
receiving a plurality of media in response to the call for media associated with the at least one call for media record;
pooling the plurality of media received over a period of time in response to the call for media associated with the at least one call for media record;
checking the pooled media by comparing the pooled media against a media restriction set for the call for media associated with the at least one call for media record to determine verified media and unverified media;
updating the associated call for media record with the verified media by associating the verified media with the at least one call for media record; and
allowing access to the verified media that has been associated with the at least one call for media record.

Abstract
Communication about an event is achieved through a call for media, allowing diverse forms of media such as text, audio, picture, and video to be associated with the call for media for a past, present and/or future event, an event being definable by location, a set time, an object, a state of being, an individual, any combination thereof and others, etc. Calls for media need not be stated as direct requests, but may simply be an event name, to which users may respond with related media. Associating specific communication with an event allows all forms of media used or captured to be related to the event for easier tagging, cataloging, or archiving, while also creating a way to alert others that media is desired for an event and can aggregate this media from one or many users, organize and prioritize event-related media to create presentations of the event, etc.

24. A computer implemented method, comprising:
-
receiving a first media item having a first characteristic in a media category and a second media item having a second characteristic in the media category; accessing the first characteristic and the second characteristic for the first and second media items related to a call for media; comparing the first characteristic to the second characteristic to determine a priority of the first media item and a priority of the second media item; determining a sequence of the first media item and the second media item for a presentation based upon the priority of the first media item and the priority of the second media item; and preparing the first media item and the second media item for playback to a user in the presentation in chronological order with the higher priority media item being presented first. - View Dependent Claims (25, 26, 27, 28)

29. A computer system for implementing a communication method via an application accessible over a network, comprising:
-
an application server running the application; an event database in communication via a database interface with the application server and including at least one event record, an event being associated with the at least one event record; and a user database in communication via a database interface with the application server and including at least one user record for at least one user; the application server being configured to; send out a call for media for the event associated with the at least one event record; pool media over a period of time for the event associated with the at least one event record; verify the pooled media by checking the pooled media against any media restriction set for the event associated with the at least one event record; update the at least one event record with the media for the event associated to the at least one event record; and allow the at least one user access to the verified pooled media associated to the at least one event record.

30. A computer-implemented data processing method for processing a media response generated by a second user in response to a request for media generated by a first user of a communication system, comprising:
-
receiving at a server the media response generated by the second user in response to the request for media generated by the first user; analyzing the media response generated by the second user to determine whether a restriction associated with the request for media generated by the first user is met; approving the media response generated by the second user as a first approved media response if the restriction associated with the request for media generated by the first user is met; and making the first approved media response and additional approved media responses available to the first user as an organized collection of approved media responses received in response to the request for media generated by the first user.
