Abstract

A website is augmented to indicate the presence of saveable enhanced book memos. A user can save an enhanced book memo to their memobook database, then view their saved book memos, either at the website, or using a downloaded program when not at the website. The enhanced book memos can include text and/or multimedia files that are not present on the website.

Claims

1. A website augmented with information that can be saved to a database associated with a user, comprising:

a web page for display by a browser program executing on a user device, and

at least one actuatable indication of a saveable file, the actuatable indication being displayed on the web page, the saveable file including at least a title, a thumbnail image and one text field,

wherein, when a user actuates the actuatable indication, the saveable file is stored in the database associated with the user.

2. The website of claim 1, wherein the actuatable indication is an icon.

3. The website of claim 1, wherein the actuatable indication is highlighted text.

4. The website of claim 1, wherein the text field includes information that is not present on the web page.

5. The website of claim 1, wherein the saveable file was created by an editor distinct from the user.

6. The website of claim 1, wherein the saveable file is stored in association with the website.

7. The website of claim 1, wherein the saveable file is stored in a central repository that serves multiple websites.

8. The website of claim 1, further comprising an actuatable indication of a database program, and wherein when the user actuates the actuatable database program indication, an area is displayed on the user'"'"'s device by the database program for enabling the user to view the saveable files stored in the database associated with the user.

9. The website of claim 8, wherein the database program enables the user to select a characteristic to control which of the saveable files are displayed.

10. The website of claim 8, wherein the database program enables the user to select a parameter to control an order in which the saveable files are displayed.

11. The website of claim 8, wherein the database program enables the user to create a list and to put at least one saveable file in the created list.

12. The website of claim 11, wherein the database program enables the user to share the created list with another user.

13. The website of claim 1, further comprising a file creation program available to the user and enabling the user to create a saveable file, and to store the saveable file in the database associated with the user.

14. The website of claim 13, wherein the file creation program enables the user to upload multimedia content into the saveable file.

15. The website of claim 1, further comprising a download program for downloading a browser plug-in to a device associated with the user, the browser plug-in for enabling the user to access the database associated with the user when the user is at a place other than the website.

16. The website of claim 1, further comprising a download program for downloading an application program to a device associated with the user, the application program for enabling the user to access the database associated with the user when the user is at a place other than the website.
