Abstract
Methods described herein are for wireless communication systems. One aspect of the invention is directed to a method for a HARQ process, in which the HARQ process includes a first transmission of an encoder packet and at least one retransmission. The method involves allocating a transmission resource for each respective transmission. The method involves transmitting control information from a base station to a mobile station for each respective transmission. The control information includes information to uniquely identify the HARQ process and an identification of one of a time resource, a frequency resource and a time and frequency resource that is allocated for the transmission. Other aspects of the invention are directed to acknowledging a downlink HARQ transmission, rescheduling an uplink HARQ transmission, and error recovery for an uplink HARQ transmission.

20. A method of allocating resources in a wireless communication system where a base station exchanges messages with one or more mobile stations, comprising:

categorizing the available resources of a frame into persistent resources and non-persistent resources; assigning a first zone of the frame to the persistent resources and a second zone of the frame to the non-persistent resources; updating a multicast control segment (MCCS) in a memory at the base station to indicate the current resource allocations in the first and second zones; allocating the resources in the first zone to downlink traffic in a predefined persistent way and dynamically allocating the resources in the non-persistent zone, based on the MCCS; and transmitting the frame with the MCCS and the downlink traffic from a base station transmitter. - View Dependent Claims (21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29)

30. An apparatus configured to allocate resources in a wireless communication system, the apparatus comprising:
processing circuitry configured to; categorize the available resources of a frame into persistent resources and non-persistent resources; assign a first zone of frame to the persistent resources and a second zone of the frame to the non-persistent resources; update a multicast control segment (MCCS) in a memory of the apparatus to indicate the current resource allocations in the first and second zones; allocate the resources in the first zone to downlink traffic in a predefined persistent way and dynamically allocating the resources in the non-persistent zone, based on the MCCS; and transmit circuitry to transmit the frame with the MCCS and the downlink traffic. - View Dependent Claims (31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39)
