ELASTIC SCALING OF DATA VOLUME
First Claim
1. A method for managing data over a network, wherein at least one network device performs actions, comprising:
- initializing at least one project for at least one frontend user, wherein the at least one frontend user is enabled to interact with the at least one project through at least one application;
establishing a data volume limit for an index store that corresponds to the at least one project, wherein the data volume limit is based on a selection by the at least one frontend user;
indexing data that is provided for the at least one project;
if an amount of indexed data in the index store is less than the data volume limit, storing the indexed data in the index store, wherein indexed data in the index store is accessible to the at least one frontend user;
if the amount of indexed data in the index store at least equals the data volume limit, storing the indexed data in an overflow index store that is inaccessible to the at least one frontend user; and
providing at least a portion of indexed data in the overflow index store to the index store if a corresponding amount is added to the data volume limit based on another selection by the frontend user, wherein the provided indexed data is accessible in the index store to the at least one frontend user.

Abstract
Embodiments are directed towards a system and method for a cloud-based front end that may abstract and enable access to the underlying cloud-hosted elements and objects that may be part of a multi-tenant application, such as a search application. Search objects may be employed to access indexed objects. An amount of indexed data accessible to a user may be based on an index storage limit selected by the user, such that data that exceeds the index storage limit may continue to be indexed. Also, one or more projects can be elastically scaled for a user to provide resources that may meet the specific needs of each project.
