1. A release device for releasing a medical implant from an insertion device, with which the implant can be released by a relative movement between a first and a second insertion element, the release device comprising an indirect or direct clamping body for clamping the implant in the insertion device, the clamping body comprising:

  • a proximal end, which is remote from a distal end of the insertion device during use, and comprising a distal end, which faces the distal end of the insertion device during use;

    an outer cylinder spaced around an inner surface to form a receptacle for receiving the implant, the outer cylinder comprising an engagement element through which a received implant is capable of engagement; and

    at least one web comprising at its distal end an extension that can be arranged so as to be oriented substantially in a radial direction relative to an inner axis of the clamping body, the extension configured to engage the received implant through the engagement element and within the receptacle to provide a clamped state.
